You think our close losses were rough?
I think virginia took the cake today: lost with a 10 point lead with 42 seconds left in the game: Miami (FL) Hurricanes vs. Virginia Cavaliers - Recap - March 10, 2011 - ESPN
I can take losing when we were up 6 with 3 minutes remaining, but up by 10 with under a minute and losing is just brutal

Re: You think our close losses were rough?
Yeah but we did it 12 times.

The final score threw me off for a moment....for a second I thought they came from 10 back and somehow won by 7 in regulation. http://www.tecmobowl-vs-rbi.com/index.html

Can you imagine the meltdown if that had happened to us? I am thinking that not even Coach Fred would be safe!

There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams -
Re: You think our close losses were rough?
To get back on topic:
I watched the end of that game on Espn3.com replay. That ending reminded me a little of the game at Oklahoma during Morgan's last year (I believe), where we gave up an 8 point lead extremely late in the game. I'm fairly indifferent toward Virginia - but that one was truly a heartbreaker - my heart goes out to that team and their fans.
Utah Utes, Illinois Illini. The University of Pennsylvania thought about following this pattern by calling themselves the Pennsylvania Pencils. However, they were afraid their students would start chanting "We're No. 2" -

The point was that we lost several close games because we couldn't execute, and many times it came down to him with the ball in the final seconds. Excuse the lack of clarity.

Re: You think our close losses were rough?
I remember the OK game, I think we game up a 10 point lead in about 75 seconds. It was bad coaching, bad playing, and OK having every prayer answered.

If someone added up near-miss wins in that season, last season and this season — I'm guessing it adds up to something like 18, adjusting for similar narrow victories during that span.
