It's been like this since I went to Ames starting in 1968. Cyclone fans had a difficult time reading the DM Register Peach sports section and listening to WHO. Jim Zabel was awful. The Register was slanted towards Iowa City. Ames must have been to close for the editors and writers.
It isn't easy being a Cyclone sports fan. It's far easier being an alum of a top university.
ISU is a great college. It doesn't have the high profile med, dental and law schools but it does have an overall better reputation in the US and a better donor base, despite the lack of the high profile wage earners in the professional ranks mentioned earlier.

Wrong and Wrong. ISU will hopefully be in the NCAA tournament next season, but than ISU will lose Allen and Scotty, not to mention if White has a phenomenal year, he could leave for the NBA. The 2012-2013 season will be tough for for ISU to make the NCAA tournament regardless if White stays. Saying they are a tournament team every year is delusional. ISU has to make the tournament first before you start throwing ridiculous claims like that around.

As for Iowa, Fran is going to have that team competing year in and year out. He and Fred are going to build two teams that fans are going to be excited for. Fran is their to stay.

I dont think it will be tough to get to the tournament for the 2012-2013. We will still have Godfrey, Ejim, McGee, Booker, Lucious, Odunsi, Cook. Still a lot of talent after the next season.

Hey, I admitted I was biased lol. I really like Cartwright a lot, easily my favorite player going into next year.

It's no different than when we talk about the coaches. Many of you think that Fran is a good coach, but you'd still take Hoiberg. I think Hoiberg is going to be pretty good, but I'd still take Fran over him. We all root for our guys.

Damn those hawk fans for not allowing me to enjoy the Cyclones and ruining the great job that Freddy and the team accomplished this season. Everytime ISU does something good those hawk fans ruin it everytime. I hate them. Why can't they just let me enjoy my Cyclones.

Garrett is one helluva player. Not sure I'd take him over Cartwright, but I'm admittedly biased. But I'd give anything to have a player like Garrett on Iowa's squad, either as a starter or 6th man. Think how good a tandem of Garrett/Cartwright could have been? That's a deadly combo.

Scotty is a type of player that we needed DESPERATELY this year. Gatens is an alright shooter, but not great. There were multiple games where if we'd had a Scotty instead of Gatens, we might have won.

I'd take Ejim over McCabe. I like Zach a lot, I love the energy that he brings to the floor, and with another year or two of development could be the kind of player that Cole would have been on a better team (and you need players like that). But Ejim could be very good. Good size and athleticism.

Godfrey is a borderline guy for me. Objectively I'd say scratch Archie, but I actually have hope for Archie going into next season.

And I'd take Jake over May without hesitation right now. May lacks any and all confidence at this point, and was invisible after his injury (outside of the alley-oops at Indiana).
You could just stop right here and admit you don't much about basketball. Archie is a complete scrub who scored 14 points the entire big 10 season, Godfrey had 23/11 against CU. Oh yeah and he's a freshman, not a fourth year junior like Archie.

So, having tournament plans for ISU is delusional, but assuming that Fran will "have them competitive" (sounds like the same thing to me) is just going to be the way it is? Pot and Kettle?

Yeah, I'm with you on this. Pretty much the same claim. Being competitive in any major conference means that they're at least .500 and are looking to be in the dance.

Like I said, if I wanted the better player, I'd take Godfrey. But I do think that another offseason under Bowen and Francis could get him to be a solid contributor next year. And we need the size pretty badly.

It's not that I think Archie is better, just that he's the type of body that we sorely need. And I think he'll be able to contribute next year.

And no, I'm no basketball expert

When you add the transfers, obviously Iowa State takes the lead. But Jake made a lot of hay with that Sweet 16 run last year, and they are poised to be really good again in a couple of years.
What? I hope you're joking. UNI's recruits are so good that three of them (including Bohannon, the kid from Texas and the kid from Missouri you're so high on) only had one offer and that was UNI. One had two offers, from UNI and Wofford. The other had three offers.

Tuttle was ranked ahead of what White? Surely not Royce White because that's just plain wrong. White was a 5-star recruit with a dozen offers or more. Tuttle is a three-star with three offers from UNI, Colorado State and Northern Colorado.
