Can anyone summerize Marty's side of the story? I'm interested but don't really have time to listen to the whole thing.
Marty claims that Miller and Deace came to him and his company Calling All Sports wanting to work with him to get their national show off the ground. In their discussions, Miller assured Marty that their non-compete agreements with Clear Channel would not be a problem.
After 2 shows, Clear Channel let Miller and Deace know that they were in violation of their non-compete agreements. The problem had to do with the name of the show and how it was being promoted.
Marty claims that M&D then came to him asking him to make changes to Calling All Sports that would bring M&D's show back into compliance. Marty said no way, and the show was effectively killed.
Marty is now upset because he claims A) Miller wasted his time and effort by assuring him the non-competes would not be an issue, something that he should have known was not the case. B) Miller and Deace had the nerve to ask him to make changes to Marty's established business for them. C) Marty claims that they have been nothing but a headache from the beginning of their relationship saying that they have an overinflated sense of their own worth, and need to put in their dues before they can go around making demands.
That pretty much sums it up
"What a horrible night to have a curse."
"Please bury me with all my stuff, because you know it's mine..."
"Passersby were amazed by the unusually large amounts of blood."
I don't listen to Tirrell either, but it will be interesting to hear what he has to say today. If it is true about Deace, it definitely is an actionable case for him. Just not sure Tirrell has anything to collect on. If Deace quit on his own accord - not as Tirrell suggests, Tirrells' comments do damage Deace........so it will be interesting if he continues to pile on, or backs down.
That was the first time I've listened to tirell, i've never tuned my car stereo to 1700 am- ever. I was glad when kxno fired him... Maybe steve has a case, but i find it interesting that he would whine about some comments from a bush league chump like marty tirell. steve said, "Any attempt to spread that assertion over public airwaves is a clear example of speaking factual errors that are intended to hurt an individual and/or a business." If anything this will probably help steve more then hurt him.
I can't tell you how many times i've heard steve d. do this same thing to so many, athletes, coaches, administrators, and public figures since he's been in dsm. The way he flogged steve alford, pierre pierce, etc. during that episode, just to name one.
Great. A repost of the highlights of Marty's original rant.
Just to summarize......we've got a rant from Marty Tirrell about Steve Deace & Jon Miller posted on Giggles' twitter account. If the stupidity in all the layers of this excerpt were uranium, we'd all be dead from exposure to the critical mass reaction by the time we finished listening to the audio clip.
