ESPN 3 coaches for Missouri
Ben Jacobson
Matt Painter
Cuonzo Martin
I think they get Martin.

I agree, I don't think they could get Painter away from Purdue. Martin is probably a better fit at Mizzou and Jacobsen.

That roster down there is exactly the opposite type of player Jacobsen needs. It'd be a total rebuild with him. I hope he doesn't go there.

Re: ESPN 3 coaches for Missouri
I don't think Jacobson leaves UNI, he watched what happened to Mcdermmott, I believe he's a lifetime coach for UNI, same goes for Butler's Stevenson they are happy where they're at.
Painter is interesting to look at though he loses his premier players and would step into some nice ones at Mizzou.

Re: ESPN 3 coaches for Missouri
mizz is kind of a tough situation for a coach to walk into. you start out with a loaded team of seniors (7 of them) and face high expectations. then, you have to completely rebuild the team with new recruits, since mizz has zero 2011/2012 committments. plus the younger pressey probably follows anderson to ark.
similiar to steve lavin at st. johns now that i think about it.

Re: ESPN 3 coaches for Missouri
the brad stevens staying at butler thing is getting a bit old. he's making $1M per with 12 years on his contract. the reason all these smaller school guys jump is for the cash - but if you get the cash at a non-bcs school, (few, stevens, alford, mcdermott, lowery, jacbosen etc.) then of course its no big deal to stay.

Re: ESPN 3 coaches for Missouri
If Norm Stewart fires off a call to Ben it could be a different thing. Norm Stewart is a legend and he coached at UNI as well. I doubt it. Just throwing out a "What if".

That could be a good situation for Jacobsen. He can ride the seniors this year, and then get players to fit his style. If he's a good coach, he should be able to adpat to the team he inherits for one year.

Jacobson would be an awful fit there.

Re: ESPN 3 coaches for Missouri
Actually Jacobsen saw what happened with Mcdermott when he took his act to the big conferance. He is not stupid. He would change stuff or recruit the type of kid like Wisconsin gets. Mcdermott tried to take his act and got the wrong kind of players for his offense just because they had talent.

Cuonzo Martin would be a perfect fit there.

IMO he'd be dumb not to take the job if it is one that he thinks he can succeed in. UNI is hurting for money big time and Jacobson has basically tapped them out.
I personally cannot see Painter leaving Purdue for Mizzou. Purdue may not pay their coaches well, but they still have a Big 11 budget. So he'd leave for a slight pay increase and go to a tougher conference? I don't see the reasoning there. IMO Cuonzo Martin is a shoe-in. Big conference experience as a player and assistant, HC experience in-state. I'd be a little worried that he would eventually leave to go back to Purdue, but Painter's pretty young.

Re: ESPN 3 coaches for Missouri
With his style of play, fans would want him fires after just a few losses. Going from Anderson's style to Jacobson's style is a 180 degree change.
Terrible fit for Jacobson.
