There are only so many ways to say, "Wow, are we great or what?" without turning into the very same people we don't want on this board.

The correctable error was the 2nd FT for ISU which was not properly awarded. By rule, any action that occurred between that and when the error was recognized -- the phantom three -- must stand.

I'm not arguing with you. You seem to understand the rule better than me, and I'm trying to get it squared away in my head. The more you explain it out, the more it makes sense.
The conclusion I keep coming to (and maybe you have too) is that the rule itself is utterly illogical and arbitrary.

I know that polling is hardly the end-all-be-all to tournament seedings, but it gives you a general impression of what people think of your team. The fact that our highest rating that season was #6, and that was going into the NCAA Tournament, would lead most nonbiased people to come to the conclusion that ISU wasn't going to get a #1 seed that year. Hard to argue now, but the team that didn't deserve a #1 was Michigan State. They won sure, but at that time they had 7 losses. Still wouldn't have changed the game we had to play against them, but they would have had a tougher road.

Re: Worst Screw Job I.S.U. Ever Got?
From what was posted on the in-game threads on this message board, one could argue that any one of the 32 games played this season was the worst screw job ISU ever got.

Re: Worst Screw Job I.S.U. Ever Got?
I'll pick a person (probably already been said, but don't feel like reading the thread)
his name is Greg "McDermott."

It should be re-written to give officials the power to apply common sense in situations such as these. But then I suppose you'd have officials making up their own rules.
In all honesty, I would almost bet money that it was an error by the table. In situations like these it almost always is. Because otherwise I'd have a hard time believing all three officials on the court got it wrong at the same time, but stranger things HAVE happened, as we all know.

Hampton's best player (Williams) should receiced his 5 foul about 4 times.

The match went into overtime and it came down to a referee's decision, and was worth one team point. Bowlsby wrestled at Waterloo West, his coach wrestled at Waterloo West and the Referee was non other than their high school coach Bob Siddens. This just might trump all others.

That is an impressive find!! While the call may not have been as obvious as some of the others that have been posted, this determination factored into the loss of a National Championship and that in itself would bump this up near the top...
