Re: Matt Abdelmassih a new assistant?
To reiterate the point made earlier, this assistant replaces McRoy, not Lutz.
Lutz's replacement will be a guy with lots of coaching experience. He will replace Lutz.
BTW does anybody know what McRoy ever did other than being in DeMarcus Phillups?

This hire is for McRoy's spot.

Re: Matt Abdelmassih a new assistant?
Why hire this guy a year after Grayer was let go due to lack of experence.

Well there's your problem. This site is only for fans.

Re: Matt Abdelmassih a new assistant?
To anyone that says that McRoy didnt do any coaching is not true. McRoy brought coaching experience to the program.

My hope for the other spot is Jim Boylen, but somebody else with that amount of experience would work too. Id expect Boylen comes with baggage. Yes you may get the one player for one year. But he was fired for a reason and that would be a long term deal.

I'll take Fred's eye for talent over your eye anytime. If you are dogging on this guy because he is "green" in your perception, then I question your loyalty to The Mayor, for he is also this color green you speak of.
Everybody starts somewhere.

If he is a replacement for McRoy, their resumes are vastly different...

Re: Matt Abdelmassih a new assistant?
For those who don't know, here is his bio: Matt Abdelmassih - Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - The home of Iowa State Cyclone Sports
He's been working with Fred for 3 years now, I'm going to safely assume Fred has a fairly good idea what to expect and what he's getting from him as an assistant coach.

2 years with Izzo
4 years as a head coach, with 1 NCAA tournament
When can I pick-up his bags?

Re: Matt Abdelmassih a new assistant?
Matt has been our "in" for everyone in NYC that we are currently recruiting and have signed (Sledge) and he couldn't even recruit, but he could network. Now he'll be able to be in that city and use his connections and speak with this kids. Matt is a guy on the rise and I like that Fred didn't let him get away and is giving him a shot to go get us some ballers from NYC.
