Former Dayton recruit LaDontae Henton gets visit from Hoiberg
This looks to have something to it. Got a home visit from Hoiberg recently Lansing Eastern's LaDontae Henton being courted by Iowa State, Penn State | detnews.com | The Detroit News
From a prep site in Michigan High School Hoops :: View topic - Gibson and Henton
"Talked to Henton yesterday and Marquette, Baylor, Iowa State, and Penn State were schools he mentioned as of now. He mentioned that he's not leaving Dayton to go to a MAC or Horizon school. He has 4 official visits remaining...MSU and Syracuse would be his top two choices but I don't see that happening. "
We offered Henton last year per an article by Chris Williams on Iowa State Basketball: 7-26 Recruiting Update | Cyclone Fanatic -

Which only strengthens the notion that Cornell Mann is the new assistant
"We embrace that challenge and what it presents to us. I’m going to approach all 12 games this way: We’re going to win them all. If we prepare and then go out and execute, we’re going to win all 12. Now how many are we going to end up with at the end of the year? I don’t know, and you’re right, I won’t put a number on it."- Paul Rhoads on having the toughest schedule in the Big 12 -

There are lots of links on this guy Percy Gibson, LaDontae Henton, and MSU - The Only Colors
Maybe CFH can help him develop as a perimeter player.

If Coach wants to turn up the tempo and press, you cant have enough athletic wings either. I like this guy if we can get him.

But, I thought that we didn't recruit high schoolers. It much easier to recruit them when they are older.

I kinda like the idea of the cyclones having minor league teams throughout the country. I like this I've thought we needed another guy 6' 4"-6' 7" that can play on the wing. We only have one in Ejim right now and we got shredded because of that in conference.

judging from the photo in the LSJ article he looks like he has a Big XII ready body and some very nice hops.

OK MBB recruitniks, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this kid. Is he basically a 6'5 slasher without a great outside game? How does his game compare to Cook? How about to Webster-Chan and Okoro? What about Jok in 2013? Or the La. Tech transfer Olu? Seems like they are after a lot of similar type players. Does taking Henton mean that ISU takes itself out of the running for Okoro or re-signing Cook?

My gut feel is that Hoiberg would like to field a team of 6'-5" to 6'-9" speedy athletes who can shoot, rebound, dribble, pass, and play defense. Emphasis on transition game.
Defintely seems to prefer the combo guard and combo wing players.
If he can sell to recruits that 3 or 4 of the same type players can be on the floor at the same time, the more the merrier.
Kansas and Kentucky have had teams that remind me this... Lots of length... Transition oriented...

From his videos he has a nice mid-range game and his form looks good from the outside (no idea on %), plus a sick turnaround jumper/fade move. Developing handle. Athletic, tough, and just knows how to play. Potential is there to be a major Big 12 player.
Webster-Chan is really a different type of player. Okoro is a 2 (can play three) where as this guy is a 3.

With the coach coming on board, the home visit from Fred, and the quick visit to Ames, is this one of those "go ahead and count on Henton becoming a Cyclone things?" It's really looking like it to this passive observer.
