DG is impressing some scouts
Cory Joseph and Diante Garrett had plenty of meetings with NBA folks after the workout today.
After talking w/ NBA people here at the Nets Combine, the biggest winners today were Olu Ashaolu, Jamine Peterson and Diante Garrett.
I was impressed by Diante Garrett at Portsmouth and 2 NBA scouts told me today they think he'll catch on with a team.
All from Twitter. (The Hoops Report)

Great for DG - love it! And I guess that hurts our chances with Olu.

Re: DG is impressing some scouts
Sounds good for DG. I hope he gets drafted by someone this year and gets a chance to prove he has what it takes to play at that level.

DG has skill, and character. He'll catch on with someone!

Re: DG is impressing some scouts
It sounds like it wouldn't suck if Olu Ashaolu decided to stay in school another year and attend ISU!!!

Re: DG is impressing some scouts
"Also Diante Garrett (Iowa State) looked good at the point guard position. The last pg I heard looked good from there was Jamaal Tinsley."
Here's another one!

Re: DG is impressing some scouts
Is Minnesota too obvious? David Kahn does love picking up point guards.
I'm rooting for him, but I still think the smart money is on him not making a roster right away.

Re: DG is impressing some scouts
If DG gets drafted, it is HUGE. If it happens, then Fred will have turned an average Big 12 player (under McD) in to an NBA draft pick in 1 year. This will help recruiting more than just about anything could, IMO.

Re: DG is impressing some scouts
Drafted or not, he'll probably spend the next few years in the D-league. I love DG but I still think he is a bit raw for the NBA.
It's amazing just how terrible the Gmac system was for DG. I remember watching him as a freshman dropping 25 pts on Missouri and wishing we had a more open, up pace offense so he could run the show. It's really a shame he had to languish for three years under that. I think if he had those three years with Fred and he would be a first rounder.

He is too skinny to play in the NBA. If he is impressing scouts, some GM might take a chance and put him in the d-league while putting him on a strict weightlifting program. No matter how much he would have improved in Hoibergs system, he wouldn't be a first rounder do to his body size.
