Which B12 MBB programs aren't "stepping stones"?

Every other school in the conference has either fired their coach or lost them to another school in what, the last five years? That instability is pretty incredible for a conference that is near the top of the RPI year after year. You'd think there would be more destination jobs than we've seen.

We're kind of paranoid about ISU keeping coaches. It really goes on everywhere. Every school is vulnerable except for maybe the top 10-15 perennial programs.

I don't know what you do about it. It would be nice if the schools had more leverage in holding their coaches to their contracts.

I would probably add Oklahoma to the list as well. I can't remember how the whole Kelvin Sampson thing went down, but I know his crap was starting to catch up with him at OU before he left. But regardless, if Oklahoma is successful, you don't see their coaches leaving to go somewhere else very often.

Whether or not a school is a "stepping stone" job just depends on the coach and his career aspirations. Every D-1 basketball coach has some dream job in mind, and unless he is already there, any other school he's at can be used as a stepping stone. Roy Williams used Kansas as a stepping stone.

I think there are 6-8 elite NCAA jobs out there, where coaches will always listen to their offers, no matter how happy they are at their current position. But outside of those it just depends on where a coach wants to be.

KU, depending, and probably Texas. All others depending on the individual ate not apex jobs.

I was thinking Indiana was at one time but then again Michigan St has had a long run between Heathcoate and Izzo.
