I would like to apologize to CF. I was trying to answer what I thought was a sincere question.
I had no idea that Cyspike was running on a lean mixture.

Honestly, Jacobson does not have the high major experience to land him in a BCS job. And he doesn't have the recruiting contacts. He's a good coach, but that only gets you so far...getting the players is the other part. I think that he'd be a good candidate for places like nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, but that's about it unless he has connections with a premier recruiter that he could bring along with him.
Spin is lying and your right it happens all the time.

It is frigging UNI Who Cares?
A much more interesting topic would be what Kennedy brings to TAMU. They are after all the conference team we play twice next year.

If everyone on this board takes a step back and objectively assesses the state of college basketball in Iowa, it's tough to knock UNI. Basically, they've been the best program in the state for the past decade. You don't have to bash on UNI to cheer on ISU.

I'm not just writing this as a dual UNI/ISU fan or because I got my bachelor's from UNI way back when, but I honestly do believe that there is a vocal minority of Iowa State fans who seriously feel that ONLY Iowa State has the right to be a good basketball program within the state boundaries, and that other schools in the state, especially a "puny mid-major" (since BCS schools are always, always, always automatically better just because...) need to just "accept their place" in the totem pole.
Silly, stupid, and ridiculous? Yes, but when Texas A & M was looking for a new coach there was at least one poster who wrote something along the lines of what I just wrote above "Texas A & M needs to remember that they're not supposed to be good at basketball! They need to remember their place!", as if ISU fans should be angry that the Aggies are taking basketball seriously.
Again, stupid as stupid can get, but I've been on this board long enough to realize the uncomfortable truth that some (not all or not even close to being a majority, thank God) Cyclones fans are truly and profoundly frickin' morons.

It is as simple as this UNI plays in the Mo Valley and ISU plays in the Big XII. I care about TAMU because we play them in conference play. Just like UNI fans should care allot more about Wichita State than Iowa State.
I give UNI about as much attention as I give any other non conference opponent. (Virtually none.)

I give UNI about as much attention as I give any other non conference opponent. (Virtually none.) I completely agree with this. Which is why it is also the definition of silliness that some ISU fans think that ISU and UNI can't be good at the same time, and that UNI needs to be down in order for ISU to be up. There are Cyclone fans on this site who have written that very thing. Very silly.

Sadly, I agree. The most annoying thing about it is that ISU fans get defensive when Hawk fans take the exact same stance against our football program.

And it's the very same thing the opponents said when ISU fired McCarney. "He's the best coach you ever had and no one could do better at ISU than Mac". Sorry, but it is no one else's place to tell a fanbase that they can't aspire to more success than they are currently seeing. Nowhere is it written that ISU can't play in BCS bowls or win championships. Look at KSU and Northwestern, two of the historically worst FB programs out there, yet they saw plenty of success in the last few decades.
Now many times when a fanbase is looking to go "to the next level", they end up going to the next level down (see ISU with Chizik or iowa with Alford), but it is nobody else's business what a school decides to do with their coaches.
