Oklahoma writers rank ISU 9th

Re: Oklahoma writers rank ISU 9th
i'd rather have it this way. i don't want the team to think anything is a given. hopefully, the only ones hyping them up will be people on here.
they need to be hungry.

Re: Oklahoma writers rank ISU 9th
Tough to gauge how well ISU is going to be with the team Fred has built. I think they finish better than 9th in the conference, but who knows at this point.

Re: Oklahoma writers rank ISU 9th
That's some fine research they did on our 4 transfers that will be playing this year. "They must not be any good because they are transfers, right?"

Re: Oklahoma writers rank ISU 9th
Why would the round-robin only hurt Kansas? Doesn't that schedule have the same effect or lack of effect on every team in the conference?

Regarding the ratings, it's funny that the writers laud transfer Romero Osby from OU and then mock the ISU transfers. Osby isn't near the talent that Royce White is.
Also, ranking Okie St that high is also very questionable. They still have major issues in the backcourt if Keiton Page and Markel Brown are projected to be their starters.

Re: Oklahoma writers rank ISU 9th
i see the onslaught of preseason projections falling into three buckets: Bay/Mizz/A&M at the top, TX/KU/OSU in the middle, and KSU/TTech/OU/ISU at the bottom. We'll likely be picked from 7-10th most everywhere which is fine.

The 99-00 team was picked to finish 12th in the conference. I know the circumstances aren't the same, but just saying. Predictions don't mean crap.

Re: Oklahoma writers rank ISU 9th
I don't really care where people pick us but have a better reason than that. Jesus ******, just because they're transfers doesn't mean they are awful.

Oklahoma writers actually write about basketball? They must think John Blake is still coaching their football team. TRA #13 -

There used to be a section at cyclones.com that had a bunch of writeups on Cyclone Legends and the best teams that I can't find...However, I have some of them printed out and one of them is on the 2000 season.
This is the quote from the writeup: "They have not won with Fizer in his first two years at ISU and no change is predicted this season."

Seriously, posting this "distressory" never gets old...
I guess I really don't give a rat's arse what some random sports journalist thinks about our chances. I would put more stock (and even then not a whole lot) into what the rest of the coaches in the conference think of our chances. If they rate us middle pack (which is where I think anyone with a clue should be ranking us), then they are at least paying attention. If they rank us near last, then they clearly aren't paying attention and ISU is truly flying under the radar.
