Re: Capital City League Highlights 6-19-11
I only saw the first night's games and Mel looked stronger, and with his quickness he's going to be very tough for a 4 to handle. He didn't hit outside in his first game but it sounds like he had some success outside on Sunday. If he can become a consistent outside threat, he could also be a great 3.

You can tell that we have some shooters with outside range such as Babb, Allen, McGee, in addition to Scotty.
You can tell that Royce is pretty smooth handling and can pass the ball as well as probably any big man in college basketball.
Obviously you don't know if that will translate to wins on the court, as we still need to see if we can defend and rebound, but there are still some things to take away from highlights, IMO. you are correct... and it will equal wins... our roster is sick, and 1 year from now will be even sicker...

Agree with this. There are indeed some things you can take away from watching the CCL. And it's just fun to see the players in the summer and see them having fun.

And I can't watch the highlights but hopefully you caught 1 or both of Tyrus McGee's first half slam dunks...He had one on a fast break that was pretty cool and one similar to Allen's where he took it at the hoop hard and stuff it, although not quite as powerful as Allen's.
Tyrus has a motor and probably plays harder than anyone in this league. You can tell he wants to win even if it is just a pickup game.

Thanks for posting those. Great stuff! Some people are a little concerned about White's lack of scoring so far but from the vids I have seen it looks like he could dominate in the low post if he wanted too but what's the point in this league. I think as we get excited for all the new guys we better not forget about him. Not sure he's going to let the newcomers waltz in and take his minutes without a fight. Is it me or does Melvin look like he lost weight? He looks less stocky. Doesn't seem to affect his rebounding though. Tyrus is going to be a flat out stud.

I agree, its not a huge deal in this league but there are obviously some guys busting their *****, no excuse for him not to be. Maybe I'm just being too critical from not seeing him play enough because even when he was getting dunks things looked pretty easy for him. He looks like the kind of player that the game comes pretty easy to, when you're really skilled you don't necessarily need to be a "high energy" guy.

No thanks to the crap music you've included!

Re: Capital City League Highlights 6-19-11
Ejim looks like his handle has improved a lot and his shooting form is looking good as well. If he can continue to show that kind of driving ability and effort on the boards it will be hard not to start him.
Hoiberg was right about how fast Sledge is.
Royce looks like he can do just about anything he wants on a basketball court.

Some of those drives by Sledge and McGee made me nervous, we don't need our guys getting injured.

Re: Capital City League Highlights 6-19-11
I like how people are now not only questioning Royce's ability to score and criticizing him for not shooting the ball enough, but now are questioning his work ethic in a pick up game.
Good stuff guys.

Good stuff guys. No kidding.
It could be the guy is just a shade better than most of his competition, and he's finding ways to challenge himself. That would sound like his interviews.
I hope we don't do this during the season.

"I love this. It's just fun to come out and have the fans be here and come out and get wins," White said. "I just want to win at everything, so I just want to do that. If White were 5/20 on shooting I might be concerned. If he's 5/8 with double digit rebounds and assists his scoring average is the least of my concern. He could score if he wanted.
