I will admit I was not pleased when we picked up Royce. I'm happy to eat my words...dude has been a model citizen from all accounts, in the classroom and on the court.

I hope he tears up the conference.

I have always felt that this years team could repeat whats TF's team of transfers did. After reading what Royce had to say, I think I might be right. Royce is gonna be Willoughby v2.0. Not in the "what they do on the court" way, but the attitude & leadership. If you read the rivals article that interviews all the players on the 95-97 teams I think you will agree.

I want to win a championship. An NCAA championship. I want to do that. My senior year in high school, my goal was to go undefeated. We did it. From that, I think that when I set my mind to something and with my teammates, if we all buy into what the coaches put forth, we can do anything. Teams like VCU prove it.

You guys can call me crazy. I'm not saying ti will happen but IMO we have all the tools to win the conference. Will it happen? Who knows, probably not but we have guys that can handle the ball (Allen, McGee, Sledge, Bubu, even Law handles it alright), we have shooters all over (Allen, McGee, Scotty, Babb, even Booker and White have decent range for post players), We have athletes(Ejim, Booker, Allen, Sledge, White). The one thing missing would be a dominant low post player and that may not even be needed with the type of team we have. I'm not worried about rebounding. If these guys gel and do what their skills are capable of doing, it could be a special year.

I agree, we have the tools to win any/every game this year. BUT, the problem is they haven't proven they can play as a team. Maybe the big four all playing together last year on the scout team will be a big boost. It is their first year "together", but it really isn't their first year together for the most part. The next year we could be real special, but I trust Fred will at least have us contending this year. Even if we end up just sneaking into the tournament.. we could end up being real dangerous in there.

The Italy trip should be a nice little jumpstart for our team also.

The more I hear our guys talk about this upcoming season the more optimistic I am. You know that Allen and Christohperson want to win because this is their last year. The other transfers and Royce have something to prove and they all seem to get along well. I think the Italy trip will be huge because instead of using early season games to figure out how to play together, they can do that in Italy and at the start of the season they can hit the ground running.

This season is going to be fun.

Looks like Fred made a great decision on this kid. He will do very well this year. His talent was certainly never a question. Looks like now he has the attitude to go with the talent. Like Hubbard on our team, it sometimes takes a big event to get some ones attention
