What if...
Ive just been reading all these threads on starting line ups and how we could be top 3 in the conference and all the hype. Im just as excited as everyone on the planet. I cant wait. But im just thinking what if we go 19-16 or close to that. We make the NIT or finish 6th or 7th in the big 12. How dissapointed will everybody be. Ill be kicking myself in the face (Its possible) if we arnt good.

Re: What if...
If we make to any post season play NO ONE should hang their heads.

Re: What if...
If we only make the NIT and it's not injury related I'll be depressed. I HATE all of the smaller tournaments.

Re: What if...
I'd be severely disappointed.

my guess is people on the internet will overreact. Other people will tell them not to overreact. There will be angry words.

I forgot the final part though:
Someone will call someone else Hitler, they lose and the disagreement ends. (per Godwin's Law).

Re: What if...
Fred's a winner. I have faith that our program is going to turn the corner this season. I felt that it already did with a lack-luster squad last season. We have players that know how to get to the post-season. Not getting to the NCAAs would be a disappointment, and to Hoiberg...it's not an option. He wants ISU back on top, and with all the turnaround in the Big 12 this past season with new coaches and such, I like our odds to do well, and often.
Expect greatness with Hoiberg. It starts this season in the new conference.

I have faith that Fred gets us to the NCAA this year. If we go to the NIT, I would be disappointed, but could live with it.
If we don't make the NCAA either of the next two years, then we might have some issues.

"You're the big Hitler." "You're the devil."
You also forgot that somebody will say, "If we wanted to avoid postseason play, we should have just kept McDermott," in complete ignorance of the fact that we didn't fire the man.
And then some cheap shots at Iowa, with the idea that our missing postseason play is somehow still a better deal than their missing postseason play.

Re: What if...
As long as we don't get bitten by the injury bug or have any problems with players. I don't think we have anything to worry about.

Re: What if...
We will win at least 20. Mark it down. The question is if we can win 22 or 23 to ensure going to a tournament.
With so many real bball players, we should be able to shuttle the bodies in and out. Last year with half a bench we were competitive. This year, let's run the other team into the ground.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: What if...
An NCAA tournament berth is better than an NIT berth, and that's a no-brainer. With that being written, I wouldn't necessarily be disppointed if we do only make the NIT, considering that would be our first postseason bid of any kind since 2005. Baby steps way of thinking, I guess.
I will allow that I would be disappointed in the NIT if we had obviously underacheived proportionate to talent level in the regular season (somewhat similar to WM's last season) or if we get robbed like Colorado did last season.

Re: What if...
I will be very disappointed if the Clones do not make the NCAAs this year, and I am sure Fred would be too.
Do you realize how many games ISU lost in the last minute last year with a fully depleated team? With White last year, ISU makes the NCAAs, period. The 4 transfers that sat out last year are not guys that are moving up from Wartburg, they are highly rated, skilled, seasoned basketball players.

Re: What if...
I love having Fred as our coach and think he will right the ship over time. Having said that, I'd say at this point that the odds that we DON'T make the NCAA tourney are higher than the odds that we DO. Wake up, people - we haven't made the tourney in seven years and we're coming off a last-place finish in the conference. Baby steps. Those that expect the world from Fred in Year 2 are setting themselves up for disaapointment, and it's not fair to Fred considering how bad things were here when arrived.
