Re: Barry Stevens to Register Sports Hall of Fame
Much like having his jersey hung from the rafters at Hilton, it's long overdue.

Re: Barry Stevens to Register Sports Hall of Fame
This was the first game I attended:
As a sophomore, he became the star attraction. He averaged 16.5 points.
Things changed in Cyclone basketball history on Feb. 8, 1983. Stevens scored 40 points in a 73-72 overtime win against No. 10-ranked Missouri.
Stevens was on fire, truly the start of Hilton Magic.
He died suddenly while working out on Feb. 21, 2007, a stunning young death for someone who lived life so vigorously.
Former players and coaches gathered in his memory five months later for an alumni game that raised money for the American Heart Association and the Barry Stevens Foundation.
Stevens was gone from Hilton Coliseum, but magic was in the air.
“Barry Stevens started all of this,” Grayer told a crowd of 4,000. “He created Hilton Magic.”

Hilton is magical and Barry was the magician who created the magic. May he rest in peace and live forever in our hearts.
