Re: Royce White On the Court Resembles...
I think it is healthy to have very high hopes. I think it is also healthy to want to see it happen before we believe it.
Win-win. We have someone on our team worthy of extraordinary hopes and the possibility of proving it... heck - we have more than one. I guess we ought to show up and see what happens.

Magic Johnson is a top 50 all time player in the NBA. If White plays anywhere near Magic's level ISU fans should be happy.

Re: Royce White On the Court Resembles...
Of course, comparing him to Magic is going overboard.
But I think the point is that we have not seen a man of his size with that kind of handles and passing ability for a long time. Especially one that actually looks to pass first like Magic. Would it be fair to say that Royce's GAME resembles that of Magic, at least how he has been playing in these exhibitions?

I guess that keeps with the "wait and see" theme.

You're right though, we need to see Royce's performance in the regular season in order to make a proper evaluation of his talent. Even so, I don't think being an NBA lottery pick is out of the question for Royce. Same thing was said many times on this board about Craig Brackins. Let's watch him play a game against some actual competition, like Texas or Kansas, before we start tossing out the "lottery pick" and "he looks like Magic out there" and "best player in the history of ISU" comments.

Re: Royce White On the Court Resembles...
Basically, I see Magic Johnson in a young Shaquille's body with a wonderful little twist of Oscar Robertson. Since Royce's shooting ability is a little better than Larry Bird's at that stage of his life, he'll do OK.

Re: Royce White On the Court Resembles...
I think the comprison was good, as long as you don't look for RW to be at the same level of play as Magic played at. He does appear to handle the ball very and pass very well, has moves around the basket, all things that Magic did. Now the question is, can he do it in the Big 12. We will all have to wait and see.

This. I don't think the OP meant to say "RW is as good as magic" but just stating the two are similar in the way they play the game. Comparisons like that are made all the time in sports.
Last year on the high school football state championship game apparently the announcers thought some of the kids were Tim tebow, peyton manning and Adrian Peterson

He just compared a guy who has never played a B12 game to, in my opinion, the best PG of all time. That's a bit of a stretch.
Royce has talent, there's no denying it, but lets not be insane.
By the way horses are comparable to ants because they both walk.

Re: Royce White On the Court Resembles...
It's rediculous to compare him to Magic, he plays way more like Lebron than anyone else.

Re: Royce White On the Court Resembles...
He reminds me of a black Jesus! Come on people, first Fizer and now Magic? Let the man play 1 minute of NCAA ball before this gets out of hand.

I think he plays a lot like curt rambis, i know, this is ridiculous considering he has yet to play a minute of D1 ball, but I just see so much of Rambis in his play

Re: Royce White On the Court Resembles...
Oh come on people... he's obviously Michael Jordan with a slice of Jesus!!

I think it is way way way to early to make comparisons to anybody at this point...you may be able to start earlier than the Big 12 season though. There is a Michigan game that will hopefully show us what type of player he is!
