Re: ESPN chat with Fran has an Iowa State question
Leigh ( Big Ten Country)
can ISU crack the top half of the Big 12? Can they compete for it all? They have some talented players (transfers), but don't get much attention.
Fran Fraschilla (3:29 PM)
Leigh, you're right on top of it. I spoke to Fred Hoiberg in July and he was very excited about his team, even though they are currently under the radar. He loves the versatility of Royce White, the former Golden Gopher, and will even toy with playing the big guy with the ball in his hand some. Chris Allen, the Michigan State transfer should get a new lease on life after spending much of his Spartan career in Tom Izzo's doghouse. Keep your eye on senior guard Scott Kristofferson, who is an outstanding shooter and has already flourished in Hoiberg's system. A top half finish in the Big 12 and a postseason appearance somewhere is very very doable.
Any relation? -

Fran loves Iowa State. He gives us more national pub than anyone. So what if he spelled Scotts name wrong.

Re: ESPN chat with Fran has an Iowa State question
What Fran understands very well is when ISU is good (and Hilton Magic is, well, magical) - it's good for college basketball in general.
He's on record in saying that Hilton is one of his favorite places and the Hilton Magic is no urban legend. I hope our team this year can help resurrect it.

Re: ESPN chat with Fran has an Iowa State question
Haha. This is funny. I (leigh in big ten country) asked that question.. Intended to post his response here, then forgot about it. Guess somebody picked up my slack!
The christopherson mispelling is funny, bu I'll give him Fran a break. He knows so many players - including foreign players. Dude is an encyclopedia of basketball.

there isn't a day that goes by without a cyclone fan asking an espn/national media type about cyclone hoops. bilas, vitale, fran, etc must get hundreds of tweets a day saying "hey xxx, what do you think about my team xxx this year?"

It's not like Iowa State is similar to Michigan in football, where they have been recently down, but are on their way back up to the top. When Michigan is good, it's good for college football. The same could not be said for Iowa State basketball, I'm afraid.

Please explain why I or anyone else cares about a) what you have to say and b) why michigan being good is good for college football?

A packed Hilton Coliseum is good for college basketball because it can be as good as any homecourt in the nation when it is rocking.
I don't bring my own opinions, just attack others.
