I don't really get how a 17 or 18 year old could be a huge Hawkeye basketball fan. Football or wrestling sure, but the kid would have been about 4 or 5 years old the last time they were not horrible or starting known rapists on the team.

My guess is that he is a Hawkeye Football fan and by choosing to play for the bball team he will get better seats at the FB games.

Its not that hard, at least you know most of the Iowa basketball fans probably arent TavernHawks or whatever you want to call them.

I wish they could get something going again in bball.. I miss the days when our game against them was a big event. Their bball program is a joke right now and thats too bad.. not for them, but for my own selfish enjoyment of a good rivalry.

Hey, its been climbing out of that "joke" status for a year now. Fran started to show progress last year and we have a top 25 recruiting class right now. The win over Purdue is gona be huge for the program and the players

Based on the visit thing, it could go either way.

The Register article states that Roy Williams made an in-home visit Monday night, and now we see a Wednesday night commitment, prior to an official visit at either school.

It would be great if the guy actually stayed in-state. It can easily be argued either way right now. Since we have 12 hours until the announcement, I expect us to do just that.

Paige has been working hard on Woodbury to go to UNC so I kind of doubt that one.

woodbury will, in time, be a good (great?) player. same with gesell. but i don't think either kid sets the world on fire as a freshman, which is what will be expected by the fans. i think iowa struggles again this year (0.500 or slightly below) and gesell and woodbury are going to have the weight of the iowa fanbase on their shoulders right out of the gate. good luck.

I am of the opinion that I never want Iowa to win a game. I want to stomp on them every year by 20-30 points. All Iowa fans want to do is make funof us for our conference trouble. I say screw them and hope that their athletic department is terrible.
