As previously mentioned, you can't argue with STUPID.
I too am looking forward to the FUTURE of Cyclone athletics, but I remember a time when Troy Davis became the only player to rush for 2,000 yards and not win the Heisman (TWICE), Dan McCarney brought us from death to 9 wins and a Bowl victory, when Fred Hoiberg continued Hilton Magic with the 'loudest' victory over Okie State, Danny Harris became the only person to defeat Edwin Moses in the 400 hurdles in over a decade, Cale Sanderson became the 1st individual wrestler to go undefeated through his college career, former walk-on Jeff Hornacek led us to the Sweet 16 and eventually the BEST Cyclone NBA player, or LE made Cyclone Basketball relevant winning consistently on the road, winning not 1 but 2 Big XII titles, and coaching the only Elite 8 appearance in school history.
The future is good, the future is bright, but celebrating the success of former Cyclones is also the way to BE A CYCLONE.
Great post...I am out of rep for the day but you deserve some for this post!! Thanks for writing it!
It always seemed like Eustachy was a great coach, but a less prominent recruiter. He took Floyds kids and made them into one of the two best teams in the country.
Floyd's kids? The 99-00 team would not have gone to the Elite Eight without LE's recruits - Tinsley and Horton. And Nurse never played a day for Floyd. Johnson and Shirley overachieved under LE. Fizer couldn't have done it by himself.
LE was an OK recruiter, the problem was how he ran off alot of talent who didn't respond instantly to his player development style.
Congrats to LE. I'm glad he's working on pulling himself up by the bootstraps. I expect he'll continue to make progress and I expect to see him have a good amt of success. Wish none of the nonsense had ever happened and he hadn't taken the detour. I don't think he'll ever get to the same level he would have "if only," but he's in the category of "once a cyclone always a cyclone."
I wish him the best and hope someday soon Fred can be the only coach to kick his *** in the NCAA's.
One thought though, 3 year contract isn't a total vote of confidence. It seems a little like treading water. I don't think LE is heading in this direction, and Not to cause any problems, but everyone likes to think about what might have been with LE and WM working together for years and yrs.
If LE is just treading water and likes ISU and the state, can you imagine if he came back and worked with Fred on the bench. If we could work that out, that might be pretty sweet too. ;^)
