Negus Webster-Chan Chooses Missouri
2012 recruiting target Negus Webster-Chan has chosen to play for the Missouri Tigers - He is Frank Haith's fifth verbal commit of the 2012 class. You can see the other four future Tigers on the updated Big 12 Commit List.
Certainly understandable in the decision with our latest verbal commitment of Sherron Dorsey-Walker, but definitely could be a great college player that we may have to go up against for the upcoming 4 years.
Iowa State is continuing to recruit for the 2012 class however, despite having all scholarship slots filled at the moment. Iowa State offered a 2012 PG Naz Long out of Canada yesterday and will have him as an official visitor on October 22.

Yup, we backed out of the NWC sweepstakes.

Re: Negus Webster-Chan Chooses Missouri
This is a disappointment but not unexpected. We have no obvious scholarship for him and have other players with similar size/skills. That's not to say he won't be a very good player ... he may very well be. But we should be fine without him.

Re: Negus Webster-Chan Chooses Missouri
It sounds like sour grapes but I feel he won't get 4 years with Haith. I think we'll see more come out from his time at the U.
All in all I'll wish him luck. Seemed liked a decent kid we were after to come to ISU.

Re: Negus Webster-Chan Chooses Missouri
I know why he didnt come here (sort of), but im not really excited about my team having to face him 1-3 times per year. Guarding a 6'-7" guard is never fun. Good luck to NWC!

Prediction: We'll go through 2011-12. Somebody won't play the amount of ball that he wants to play. That somebody will transfer. There's your scholarship.
Over signing happens all over the country.
Having said all of that, I fully anticipate that all of the current 2012 commits will sign as planned. So when peeps were throwing out names like Okoro not coming, that's 100 percent false. He'll be a Cyclone. ∞ -

That would make some sense, if the staff originally was after him assuming a later commit (spring) they'd have a good idea of needs. They probably had to make a quick decision when he bumped up his decision date.
That does make me think they have no advance knowledge of someone leaving or not coming back to open up a scholly. They were hoping he'd wait till after the season and then decide and then they'd know position needs and if they had an open scholly.

Re: Negus Webster-Chan Chooses Missouri
Not knowing the correct pronunciation of his name, I feel like he would be a tough guy to cheer for in the crowd. Let's say Scott C. hits a 3 pointer, people yell out "Way to go, Scotty" or Diante made a nice play "Atta boy, DG". With Negus Webster-Chan, his initials are too many, his last name is too long, and his first name I could see being misheard when yelled...

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. We did just offer Nazzy Long (PG) from the same AAU team as NWC. This is more-so a move of being happy with SDW and Okoro commits and deciding to go after another PG instead.
