    Bilas bucks "transfer negativity"

Not sure if this was already posted. Merge if necessary.

Iowa State Men's Basketball: Analyst upbeat about transfers | The Des Moines Register | DesMoinesRegister.com

If Bilas said it, I'm 81 percent confident it has merit. I'm sure some people disagree, but I trust his K-knowledge more than most analysts.
Unrelated aside: The angle of the Royce White photo included with the story makes him look like he's about 7-6.

My favorite part of the article:

Self knows Iowa State’s roster, and that’s why he is surprised the Cyclones were picked so low.
“Those guys are good,” Self said. “When I saw where they were picked, I just shook my head.”

    Re: Bilas bucks "transfer negativity"

The article mentions that we have 6 transfers, when we actually have 7. The analysts all seem to forget that Scotty was a transfer from Marquette too. 8 if you want to count McGee as a JuCo transfer.

    Re: Bilas bucks "transfer negativity"

I think when they are referring to transfers, they are referring to Hoiberg's transfers. Christopherson transferred when McD was still coach, so technically he is McD's transfer. However, I think we should be at 7 because of Mcgee. They probably did not count him as a transfer because he is coming form a JUCO college, and the rest of these guys are coming from D-1 colleges. So, all of Hoiberg's transfers are Royce White, Chris Allen, Chris Babb, Anthony Booker, Will Clyburn, Korie Lucious, and Mcgee.

Who's negative about all the transfers?
It seems like the fastest way to turn around a program. If it works we could be landing more top shelf talent that don't like their current program.

JuCo to D1 doesn't count as a transfer in most eyes and Scotty has been here long enough that most don't really consider him as a transfer anymore either. But, in reality we do have 8 people that didn't begin their journey at Iowa State...

    Re: Bilas bucks "transfer negativity"

What's the ratio of Bilas Bucks to Schrute Bucks, and what does it mean for something to transfer negativity?

(I kept reading the title wrong.)

About the same as the ratio to Stanley Nickels.

    Re: Bilas bucks "transfer negativity"

Coach Hoiberg took a page out of Coach Floyd's blueprint and went with transfers for instant credibility, it worked once for us and will look again. We could not have hired a better fit for our coach than Fred. I am excited for the season.
