Basketball Expectations

What are your expectations going into the season?

I think we can get to 21 wins and barely sneak into the tournament...guard play overall will be a push but we actually have a front court this year which is very nice...I expect only 1 loss OOC against Michigan and a 500 record in the conference.

Iowa State plays Nebraska in 5 days, hopefully someone spills the beans on twitter how bad we won...should be an indicator of how our season goes

My heart says, undefeated national champions.
My mind says, at least 20 wins, finish in the top half of the Big 12, with a 7-9 seed in the NCAA tourney.

Great minds think alike. Im expecting an 8-9 seed in the ncaa tourney

another question is how many wins will it take to get into the NCAA? In a very tough conference this year, 21 might do it.

After seeing how close ISU was last year, they were probably just a player or two away from having 20 wins last year (a number of close games where ISU just ran out of gas). The talent upgrade is HUGE this year and those guys played together all year and are hungry.

I will be disappointed in anything less than 25 wins and top 3 in the conference.

I could buy 25 wins after i see us defend and rebound. We could be a very difficult team to defend and should score plenty. They'll be some bumps in the road though....

My expectations are to be better than we've been in a while, competitive in all of the games, and make Hilton a tough place to win in again. If all that happens, we have a shot at post-season play.

My satisfaction threshold is a bubble NCAA team. A trip to the NIT, with a good showing will have me mildly disappointed. An easy pick for the NCAA (not amongst the last 4 -8 in) will have me very pleased.

If we can go 11-2 in non-con, and 10-8 in conf, plus a 1st round win in the Big 12 tourny will put us at 22-11. If the big 12 is as tough as I think it might be, that should put us on the bubble.

Likely, our selection might come down to a few specific games. A win @ Mich, with a conf road win against a top half team, and a home win vs. a top 25 win could be the key accomplishments with a .500 ish conf record.

5th place finish in conference or better, and a trip to the tourney. Noncon schedule is meaningless outside of the michigan game, I don't think well lose more than two. They've got all kinds of scoring and depth. The questions are defense, chemistry and finding our clutch scorer.
