    Re: KenPom Rankings

Found the real ISU one by click on Iowa State from Iowa's schedule on their page. All I can say is ouch.

13 game Big 12 losing streak?
    2-16 in conference?
    Loss to drake, providence
Losses at home to UNI and Iowa.

Overall record of 10-21??? Really! How does he come up with these predictions? A 10 win season?

    Re: KenPom Rankings

I would imagine these are computer rankings based mostly off of last years performance and who we lost. If we lose to all three of the other Iowa teams I'll cut off my junk, walk up to President Obama and slap him in the face with it, and record the whole thing so I can post it to youtube.

He has to have ****ed up royally on those. Maybe he ran Wyoming through ISU's schedule and called it ISU, and ran ISU through someone in the MWC's schedule and called it ISU as well?

It doesn't really make sense to factor in players lost without factoring in players gained.
Maybe it could in college football.

In college hoops stars come and go like the wind every year.

I don't get all the love for KenPom, last year Sagarin's basketball rankings were light years better than that fraud's.

    Re: KenPom Rankings

KenPom is a great site and really does a very good job of predicting/evaluating how teams will do, but it needs data first. It needs some games to be played and some data to be gathered before it really starts to work out.

I agree, but that's the only way I could see us showing that badly. Even last years team would do better than that this season. Unless he just doesn't have a way to put the transfers in the system since they didn't play last year.

Calling KenPom's site a fraud is laughable. His site is used by tons of college programs for scouting and he revolutionized the stats used in evaluating college basketball, he was the first one to publish any of the tempo free or efficiency stats.

    Re: KenPom Rankings

I am guessing it's based significantly on past year's performance and returning players. It should be pretty dismal.

Click on the top link, and put a period after "Iowa St" so it is "Iowa St."
