I don't think it is based on one game. I think it is based on the fact that Scotty is the current starting PG, and we've watched him for a few years and know that for as good of a player as he is he is not a PG.

Railey is suspended for the first 3 games of the season. I think it was team rules or something.
Just FYI rebounding was 34-28 in favor of us. Probably not as good as we would like, but could be worse.
I posted this in the gameday thread, but I really like Sledge. For the limited time in there I thought he looked good. He is quick, explosive in his drives and getting to the rim, and he also looks like he can make some creative passes.
It does suck that we have so many 2s and 3s that we can't keep them off the court to put a true PG on the floor, but that is a good problem to have.
Wasn't it just last year that we were super worried about having no size and no ability to rebound? Now we have a ton of size compared to last year (White, Gibson, Booker, Babb, Ejim at the 3 instead of the 4). That will help against the better competition we face, which is where we struggled last year.
Anyone know how bad Chris allen's hip pointer is? Will he be back close to 100% for our first game?
I think we will be ok
Admitting that we have a problem or problems doesn't automatically equate to panicking. Problems are something that most teams have, and they don't necessarily preclude you from having a good season. Problems are really only problems if you can't overcome them, and we certainly don't have the answer to that yet.
Right now, our glaring problem is that we lack a talented, experienced, true PG. We may either have one that emerges this season, or we are able to overcome it with Royce and PG by committee.
The best thing that could happen, IMO is that Sledge could grow into the role and mature fast.
Well, with all this hand-wringing over our lack of point guard play maybe it's a good thing our non-conference schedule is so weak.
We won the Big 8 tournament and went to the NCAA tournament twice without a great point guard. Remember J.C. Holloway? I liked J.C. but we have 2 or 3 players that can play the position better than him. Give it time.
Easy there Judge. Don't you know that every PG thread devolves into J. C. Holloway bashing?
He was only an integral part of one of the best ISU teams to ever take the floor.
White playing the point was interesting to watch. Beyond that I thought our offense was actually the most fluid when we had Bubu in there manning the point. I might be eating my words about Bubu....if Sledge doesn't progress quickly he may have to play significant minutes, because having Scotty play the point just doesn't look to be the answer IMO.
