Kansas will be down a tad this year. They will be down a TON next year. Bill Self's recruiting the last 3 years has been very poor. He has gotten lucky with some late add on's but now those guys aren't making it in b/c of grades and the luck has run out

Time for us to take our place at the top.

Re: Poor KU...
Maybe they had to reallocate resources to the Turner Gill buyout fund. Thus, there was no money left for buying/recruiting basketball players :)

Re: Poor KU...
The Jayhawks recently swung and missed on 7-footer Kaleb Tarczewski, their top target in the Class of 2012. Assistant coach Joe Dooley put in more work with the New Hampshire native than anyone else - but they lost out to Arizona.
Now go read CW's article with Niang. Hoiberg went and recruited his top guy hard himself. And from the sounds of it...that made a huge impact on Georges.
Arrow is definitely pointing up around here!

He's done a FANTASTIC job capitalizing on that national championship.
Wonder what the problem is. Maybe they aren't willing to spend Auburn/Can Newton or Calipari type money to recruit the top 20 players.

Re: Poor KU...
Self seems lazy to me. When Roy Williams wants a big time kid, he doesn't send an assistant to visit him, he goes and visits him. I think Self heard yes so much early on in his career at Kansas that he started expecting it. But recruiting has changed and you have schools like Baylor, Okie State, Houston, etc getting 5 star elite kids when they never use to. It takes away from guys that Kansas would normally get and instead of stepping up the game to keep getting these kids, Self is getting out worked.
I mean does anyone honestly think a kid says yes to Houston over Kansas if Kansas is recruiting the kids just as hard?

Two to the 3 freshmen ruled out will be back next year so that will help, but they really need a big for next year.
