Re: Tyrus McGee
Chris Allen must be a bust to the OP. Geez the guy couldn't even play the whole game. White must be a bust because he didn't have a quadruple triple with 10 highlight dunks. And what is the deal with Babb? He didn't make every shot! OP must be a MCD sympathizer.

Re: Tyrus McGee
I think this whole thread only makes sense if we're all talking about the same thing when we say "point guard".
It seems to me that whoever runs the one this season will not be asked (nor will it be needed) to do the same things DG did last year. There will be a lot more continuity and flow on the offensive end (in theory). The PG is essentially just the guy who initiates the offense, and not much more. Any number of guys on the team could probably do that.

As far as Scottie playing PG the most, Royce brought it up a whole lot, and Chris Allen hardly played in the exhibition. I'm sure Scottie plays PG more than Chris, at least at first, but we don't really know much yet. But you agreed on that, so I'm really just saying it again. Thanks. Yeah I really am not trying to be a downer here, I just wanted to point out that SC starting at the PG position does tell us quite a bit about how the other contenders for the position have fared thus far, as well as Bubu playing there. Good point on Allen, I'm hoping he can help out at that position, really hope he is back from his injury today or soon after.

If we have good ball movement through our offense, the PG shouldn't matter a whole lot. We're not likely to ask anyone to dominate the ball this year.
At least, that's what I think will happen. Don't trade that in for cash.

Don't kid yourself, Hoiberg is going to start whoever is best at the PG position at PG, and apparently that is Scottie, who we know is a natural SG. I'm still pumped for this season but to act like it isn't a concern is just silly. Or maybe he thinks Scottie makes a better PG than backup SG. Yeah Scottie is a great SG, but Allen is better.

Either way, it's hard to say anyone is a "miss" before the season even starts. I believe Fred talked about him coming in and playing point

Best 5 guys on the floor is with SC at the one. At least at this point. Which, remember is before the season has even started!

Way to wait a reasonable amount of time before jumping to a conclusion.

Well I guess our season is going to suck, who wants my season tickets?

I guess I can understand why these guys would love to have Scottie on the bench... so we can claim ISU has the best 6th man in the nation?

Well then, we all know that winning in the Big 12 without a strong PG is a challenge. It definitely can be done, and I think we can do it this season. But ask any coach, and they would love to have a strong PG, because it is such an important position at the college level. Hopefully we can play this position by committee and not have it turn into a weakness.

Re: Tyrus McGee
White is going to be our Point Forward. He will drive it in and has his choice of guards between Allen, Scottie, and Babb to kick it out to to drain the three. If they miss, White and Ejim just rebound it and either knock it down themselves or kick it back out. Not quite as easy as I'm making it sound, but you get the jist of it.

Re: Tyrus McGee
I really think ideally Scotty won't be playing the point the entire game. He'll start there because it is smart to have the 5 best players on the floor. But I expect McGee and Allen to get their minutes as well.
Again, it is hard to know what to expect without seeing Allen at 100% on Sunday.
And, original poster, you DID ask if McGee was a recruiting miss.
