Why did Fred hype up this team so much?

I just cringed everytime Fred was interviewed this off season and basically kept hyping up this team like we were the most amazing team on the planet. There was almost no way for them to live up to the hype.

We were amassing all this NBA level talent and we were just going to dominate people. And then we come out and lay an egg against possibly the worst team we'll face all year.

All the so-called talent in the world can't beat a well-coached, hustling, and inspired team like Drake was tonight. If we played with even half the intelligence and emotion that Drake did, we win by 20 IMO.

I just think a good "team" is a lot greater than the sum of all it's parts. Unfortunately, all we have is some parts, but nothing that resembles a "team" at all.

Fred hyped us up because, yes, we are very talented. Problem is, we have very little coaching, discipline, intelligence, emotion, and role players that are needed for success.

We MUST run the table and beat Michigan the rest of the Non-Con. Then all doubt for me goes out the window.

Fred also pleaded with fans to be patient in numerous interviews. I am sure he did not expect to lose to drake in the 2nd game, but he did expect a difficult transition for this team of newcomers.

You heard what you wanted to hear. Fred didn't over hype anything, but it sounds like you did. I highly doubt Drake will end up being the worst team in the country. Simons and Rice had solid games b/c they're pretty solid players.

We beat ourselves. Anybody who knows basketball who saw this game knows that something like 7 missed layups at a D1 level is complete ******** and a fluke for any high conference team (please spare me the "We are not a high conference team" whiny ********). We obviously had some non-fluke things go wrong, but in my opinion, this game was a complete ******* fluke. I'll bet real money on it.

If we are going to be good this season its going to take time, I agree they have to play more as a team than individuals, but thats going to take time when you have a bunch of transfers who have never played in a competitive game together before the season started.
