GMac How the .... #22!!??
1st UNI, Now Creighton, even ranked....
I know that its early but huh???
How the hell does Gmac do it? What was wrong at Iowa St. Ya I know Big12 talent was not Gmac's forte. But how is it that MVC talent is considered so good and ranked but he couldnt make MVC talent work in the Big12?
Cograts to him by the way.
Kinda like the chizik thing.
I'm not trying to be difficult, it comes naturally.... -

Dude's got it going at Creighton. That team is pretty tough.
I still don't get why he didn't fit here, but it looks like everyone got a very good deal. Much respect for the job he's doing.

It is a head scratcher - he just seemed to drive away players at Iowa State.

Re: GMac How the .... #22!!??
Beat him last year... Big 12 > MVC. However, he does have a pretty good team this year.

Re: GMac How the .... #22!!??
Never hurts when your best player (and probably the best player in the MVC) is your son.

Re: GMac How the .... #22!!??
His son is an awesome player. Apparently he can't drive him away though...

Re: GMac How the .... #22!!??
I can only guess, but I would assume that his style of coaching meshes better with players at that level (talented but not considered a "high major" recruit). I would imagine, on average, that type of player has more to prove, may work harder to overcome any deficiencies in talent and may be more apt to accept and follow what the coach is asking him to do.

Re: GMac How the .... #22!!??
Heard them say he still has a playbook larger than an NFL team, and thats how hes been winning some.
Still cant believe we missed on 2 players out of ames with him as a coach. Hell we would have half the ames high team playing for us if he hadnt sucked here.

Re: GMac How the .... #22!!??
Some are just best suited for coaching at a mid-major level rather than the big time.

Why couldnt he bring MVC type players here and play his style? If it works he should have tried to make it work here, but I dont know if MVC type could have won 20+ in the Big12.

Re: GMac How the .... #22!!??
After the results he had here, I just assumed his success at UNI was due to Ben Jacobsen. As usual, I was wrong.
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. -

Re: GMac How the .... #22!!??
his style works with kids that "have high basketball IQ's" and play with more heart than talent...
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -
