UNI's strengths played perfectly to our weaknesses. We struggle to play a half court game, and thrive on fast break points and 3-pters. UNI shut Babb down after he drained a couple early, and consistently sent 3-4 guys back when we got a rebound.
There won't be many (any?) other teams on our schedule that play this brand of BB, especially in conference. We've got a better chance in up and down games, no matter who we're playing IMO.
Our team is not very disciplined yet, but I'm willing to give it some time, even into next year. I don't think RW will be going pro, and we've got talent coming in. Our bench is deeper this year also. Just my two cents. Hammer away.

Instead, one team actually works at basketball, one does not. Our lack of effort is appalling...

I still think we are going to have some good wins this year and hope we continue to grow as a team, but I don't think there's anything wrong with being upset at losing to Drake and UNI, and I hope the team is plenty upset too. That's not a meltdown, that's being a fan. (Granted others are melting down.)

Re: ****Official This Season Isn't Over Thread****
I think its been so long since ISU has had a good team that people's view of what a "good" player and team is has become a little warped. Just because we've had a huge upgrade in talent for ISU doesn't mean we're up there with the best of the league.
Chris Allen was a role player on a good team. Babb was a role player on a bad team. Booker was a small role player on a really bad team. Royce is a first year player that hasn't played games in a long time. There are only a handful of those in the country that come in right away and are stars. The expectations held by this fanbase were ridiculous. If we want a team like some (most) expected, we can't just have role players from average to good teams. We need a couple star players.

Now i know we're all upset disappointed in this loss, but lets be realistic ladies and gentlemen, Rome wasn't built in one day, Fred is still a young coach getting his feet wet.
Now tonight, there was no excuse, we did not hustle and execute, simple as that. By the seasons end, we will be competitive and competing. Everything will be okay people! Let's take a step away from the ledge and breathe. We'll be Fine!
No. The season is pretty much kaput.
*waits for someone to post the Fizer team record following a loss to Drake*
This team is not good.....and Fred is not a good coach. At least not yet.

More entertaining than the Melt-Down threads are the "Polly Anna" threads and the hyperbole, wide-eyed optimism of many who polish a reeking *terd* trying to convince us it is really shiny and fragrant.

Dude was making a prediction about the season. One game - or even seven - does not a season make. So many on here are butt sore because they blew this team up to be a Big 12 contender with an NCAA run in the cards and their unrealistic (yes, I said it again) expectations are likely to not be met. If this team makes post season play - any post season play - they will have had a good season considering where they came from.
Am I happy with where they are? Not in the least. Did I foresee this possibility? You bet I did. I'm hopeful they can turn themselves into a team, but I know that takes time and work and I don't expect it to happen by Saturday.
EDIT: On a lighter note, I just realized that I responded to you, with the Big Lebowski avatar, with a post starting "Dude". Must have been subliminal.

Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.
Defense (who is the defensive minded coach on this staff currently?) & shot selection. If we have the athletic talent we think we have, then both are completely mental & it can be improved upon. Question is, can it be done quickly/this season? I will be there to find out, no matter the outcome, but there is no doubt that a lot of work needs to be done.
