Re: Doing his best Larry
I watched the whole video and I got ****** at the refs. Pretty bad.

Re: Doing his best Larry
As soon as tomato face wins back to back regular season titles, a conference tournament title, and takes a team to the elite 8, the comparisons to Larry may start.

Re: Doing his best Larry
It was pretty bad. UNI really gets the flop calls. They had 4 of them against ISU and that really changed the way ISU played the game. Hopefully there will be a decent crew for friday's game.

“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -
Re: Doing his best Larry
First half, I'll admit some of them are ticky-tack, but they were present. Only one I couldn't see an issue with was a defensive push in the post.
Second half, that was kind of ridiculous. They were calling with less and Fran had legitimate beef.
Iowa does have an issue putting an elbow into defenders though, and they called it every time last night. Sometimes you can get away with it, most times you can't. You aren't allowed to create separation like that. Ask Royce White. He's found that out a lot this season.
I will however say that in my opinion the refs did not lose that game for them. Iowa was still in the game until Fran got himself a tech. The game was close, physical and competitive throughout. Good teams don't lose their composure like that. They don't let bad calls get to them, and it clearly got into Iowa's heads the second half. If Iowa kept their heads, they could have very well pulled it out. I love to see that kind of fire in a coach, but it probably cost them the game. It wasn't even close after the tech.

Wow. Some of those calls we're complete BS.
And yeah, UNI has some good floppers. Which kind of makes me not like them. Which is too bad, because I've always admired the grit that Jake's boys play with.

You cannot tell me Bubu Palo has the size and strength to knock over a 6-9, 250 lb post. They called a charge on Bubu TWICE! “I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. Re: Doing his best Larry
Would it shock anyone to know that John Higgins has officiated more games for UNI than any other school? And his top three - by far - are Mo Valley teams. He's a Mo Valley/Big 12 official. How in the world did Iowa get stuck with him at UNI?? http://statsheet.com/mcb/referees/john-higgins/teams
Team Games Officiated
Northern Iowa 81
Missouri State 79
Wichita State 59
Bradley 56
Illinois State 53
Iowa State 52
Southern Illinois 50
Texas 49
Oklahoma State 43
Kansas 43

Re: Doing his best Larry
John Higgins did not do the Creighton/Nebraska game but there was some sketchy calls go against Nebraska in the second half when Nebraska had just taken the lead in the game after coming back from 9 points down. At one point there was a sketchy foul under the Creighton basket against Nebraska- long story short Tony McCray got a tech after the play, then Doc got a tech and dang near got run because the refs would not give any explanation to what McCray did or why they were looking at the monitor. Doc pretty much got the cold shoulder from the refs and never did get an explanation about anything that happened, during or after the game.
Now that Iowa State, Iowa, and Nebraska has had bad, bad calls go against them in tight games it makes you wonder if there is a Missouri Valley referee conspiracy to make their teams look better against the "big boys."
