Let us do the coaching, dumb***
Keith Murphy, on KXNO's Murph and Andy, just gave a great impersonation of a typical radio call-in show dude asking Fred why he's not doing X, Y, and Z, and then gave his impersonation of how he thinks most listeners would like him to respond.
"Let us do the coaching, dumb***. I've forgotten more about hedging ball screens in the time you've called then you'll ever know in your sorry pathetic excuse of a life." (some paraphrasing from memory there).
Along with some other biting remarks. Fun stuff, check out the podcast of today's first hour when it's up to hear more.
Of course, much of the same could apply to CF posters, but that's more the point of a fan message board. We get to argue amongst ourselves what's wrong and how to fix it ad nauseum, and the coaches don't have to waste time wading through mounds of our armchair insights and BS.

let me mayor coach?? :jimlad:
Re: Let us do the coaching, dumb***
Message board posters come from all walks of life. Some are wealthy, some are poor. Some are former athletes who like to keep up with their team, some are unhealthy slobs who just don't want to get up from the computer chair. The degree of difference in personalities is almost astonishing on this and any other message board you would see. The one and only thing that all message board posters have in common is that, once we get behind a keyboard, we're incapable of being wrong....and that's a fact.

Heard it live and yeah it was pretty funny (and true!).

There are some of you who were in Hunziker in January, when I told you this. I told you that I don't care if you are rich or poor, I don't care if you are an athlete or a slob, I don't care if you come from Boone, Elkhart, Huxley or right here in the city of Ames. I told you I didn't care about any of that, but what I did care about is that, moving forward from that day on, that we were one message board, that we were unified and we were one message board.
And you have bought into that hook, line and sinker, and for that, men, I am so proud!
Except, you nhclone. You're off the team.

Once again, it has been proven that the wisdom contained in this simple, yet terribly ungrammatical phrase, transcends any more complex description.

Re: Let us do the coaching, dumb***
You mean the made fun of fans for doing the same thing the media did to the hawks every game this year. Questioning Ferentz for being very conservative, weird.
Or how they'll question onside kicks, or lack there of. The same thing sports shows are based on, discussing choice of calls, plays, decisions, etc.
I heard it, and thought it was funny. But i also disagree that just because coaches know how to call timeouts, play off screens, etc... the do not always do the right thing, or make the right choice. That doesnt mean the callers choice is better, but that there are several different choices, and the right one is not always made.
Just like the current Greg M topic... Hes a great coach, but based of his time in Ames you could not come to the conclusion at all.
Jordan is the greatest of all time, but hasnt been the greatest of all time at being a GM or coach. Just because you know everything, doesnt mean you can teach it, or call the right plays, or organize a team.. so on the whole, sports raido is based on questioning and celebrating calls.
Re: Let us do the coaching, dumb***
Well fan get a little carried away, but any fan that was not happy after the ISU vs Drake game is just plain apathetic, and is that what we want from fans? I think the MBB team has had moments of being pretty good, and at other times been just plain horrible. I am sure that Fred, his coaches and the players are all well aware of the issues at hand, and they have done some things to try and change.
Re: Let us do the coaching, dumb***
Looks like we know the talent is on the team but it is not hitting on all cylinders yet for some reason or another. We still need a tuneup. Last year's team was hitting on all cylinders and doing the best that it could.
1-11 MSVS is not a great tuneup, but it is what we will have.
