Team Travel Question
I'm curious for anyone who might know, how does the team arrange their travel plans for away games during the Big 12 season? Do they always try to arrive at their destination a day before the game so they can get settled into their environment?
For this game on Saturday at 3pm at A&M, would they arrive on Friday and then have a shoot around on Saturday morning before the game?
Also, during week night away games that start at 7 or so when would they get there and when would they start to travel home?
I've always wondered what the travel schedule might be...
Thanks,

Re: Team Travel Question
Hoops charters, so they leave the day before and come back immediately after.
For midweek games, this allows the players to miss only 1 day of class (game day).

Re: Team Travel Question
Does Women's basketball charter as well? Or do only Football and Men's basketball charter?

Shadow, would the football team do something similar with having their own charter plane(s)?

Thanks, From my experience-
Football: Always travels charter day before. No walk through, try to be at hotel by 5ish. Then to stadium 2.5 hours before game. Team flies out of Des Moines.... Ames can not handle the large plane that is needed to fly an entire team. Since it is charter the plane is waiting for the team whenever they get to it after the game. Even at 2 am if needed.
Mens/Womens Basketball: Usually always fly commercial during the non-conference and then charter during the conference/post season. Commercial is out of Des Moines and charter is out of Ames. Sometimes the team leaves early enough to have practice at arena the same evening, especially if the team has never been to the arena before. Always have a shoot around the day of the game, even if there was practice at arena the day before. Then if the flight is commercial the team will usually stay over and fly back the following morning as most games are at night and flights are pretty hard to plan for if the game goes long (overtime). Charters are like football, they are ready whenever the team is ready to take off.

Re: Team Travel Question
As others have said football flys out of des moines on a chartered 737 the afternoon before the game and comes right back. Both basketball teams charter jets for the most part now that they are in conference play. Weather permitting they leave and arrive in Ames but that's not always the case in the winter.
