Re: Royce White-Triple Double
The assist I recorded was #10 to secure the triple-double:

I believe they were referencing the single game rebounding record.

Re: Royce White-Triple Double
I found it amusing that ESPN's announcing crew spent the final few minutes discussing whether Royce could get two more assists for the trible-dub.
It started even before that. We've been on the other side of those types of games, when announcers give up calling the game about five minutes into the second half, because it's so lopsided.

Re: Royce White-Triple Double
Royce will be a pro, not yet, but eventually. But a big guy that can handle the ball like that. No brainier. Work on his post game, and his mid range game this off season and he will be ready.

I think it was a combination of that, speculation of the possibility of a special achievement and just enjoyment of watching Royce play. He's special

Re: Royce White-Triple Double
Hopefully not the last triple double for Royce!
"Freddie knows the game," Bird said. "I'm sure he picked up a lot of stuff over the years from different people. College is different from the NBA, but I'm sure he'll do a great job." -

Honestly, I was thinking the same thing. Royce has a bit more bulk and CWebb was a little taller I think, but very similar. The only thing is Royce will need to score a little more as CWebb was a 20-10 guy IIRC.

I think he could be a pro right now, even without the jump shot, but I think he'd benefit from another year after this in college. Unless he plays like this in every game from here on out that is.
Was it today's announcer that said Royce reminds him of Anthony Mason from the NY Knicks back in the day? If so, I think he's right on the money with that comparison. I couldn't think of anyone who has a game like Royce's, but Anthony Mason might be the closest there is? A big man that can handle the ball like that, and pass like that. Unreal.
I have to apoligize for doubting Royce earlier in the year, although he did struggle early on. I wasn't confident he could be all that good without developing at least a 10-15 ft. jump shot, but I was dead wrong.... although he has developed a better back-to-the-basket game from earlier in the year.
If he continues to play like this, he could possibly be Big 12 player of the year IMO. I know... it's only one game and it's still early, but today's performance was just like a man amongst boys out there. It was a pure joy to watch.

I was at the game for the Stinson triple-double. Freshman year.

Royce needs to keep the Cy-Hawk.

Re: Royce White-Triple Double
99% chance Royce stays this year and 60% chance he stays after next year...the kid loves college an even admitted that his road to redemption when he came to Iowa State wasn't about proving how goo he was on the court but as a person in society...his first love is music and I think he'll stay throughout school to graduate
Come here to chew bubble gum and kick ***, have I. And all out of bubble gum, I am. -
