It's not so much the sitting, but the oozing that tends to be unpleasant for those around me. Now that I think of it, anyone got tickets in the Mizzura section?

I have nosebleeds as well, and the only part of the arena to have a consistently massively empty spot is the upper level student section. It's not even close. Big games come close to filling (at least to the naked eye) other sections, but that upper level student section is rarely even close to full.

The student section though is set up in a way that highlights empty seats. On a % basis, it just looks more empty because everyone crowds down to the front. If everyone in the balcony pushed forwards into the parquet\arena circle in all sections, itd look comparable to the student section for a lot of games.

I've seen games where that upper deck was straight empty, and the rest of the arena was very, very close to full in the past few years.

That's 1/3rd of the student section empty at nearly every game. I realize that for a lot of games, the rest of the arena is 1/3rd empty too, but there are games where the regular crowd brings it a lot more than the student section.

And more than just sheer attendance is the intensity issue. Our students are fully capable of going bonkers (we see it all fall; this is not another "back in my day" rant) they just don't really get into basketball it seems. Maybe Wednesday is the night it comes back. I still support getting rid of CA and everything that goes with it, and making the basketball student section straight GA, no different than football.

I would agree. Or at least make it 1 side CA-only, one side GA.

Part of the problem i'd bet is that our promotions are a lot more disruptive to the crowd in basketball than football. I know we need them for money, and i know there's not much that can be done about them, but some of them just plain suck the wind out of the building.

I'll never be able to do this. I have class from 6:30-10 and there is no way I'll go the whole class without checking my phone. I went 5 minutes before I checked it last week during the Texas game.

Hilton does not have bleacher seating, so unless the ushers allow you to put more than 1 person in a seat, that cant be right.

One section from arena circle to balcony that has 3 or 4 seats empty in each row will look full. It won't look at all full if every one of those empty seats are all together at the top.

I think a lot of the students who would be sitting clear up at the top in the end or corner move to better open seats they can find sprinkled here or there around the arena. Regular reserved seat season ticket holders are less likely to do this.

I think the real key to success in that regard would be trying to start some sort of winter tailgating scene.
