? for the "Experienced Cyclone Fans"

For those of you who claim you went through the golden era of Hilton Magic and didn't stop yelling or standing the whole game, what went on in Hilton during timeouts? Was there a lot of ads and pointless junk being advertised on the jumbotron like there is today? And if there was, did you cheer over it?

No jumbotron stuff because there wasnt one. We had a lottery to get tickets, one year I didn't get any. The seats moved around for different games. So you just stood up and yelled your rear off. You wanted to make the most of it when you were right behind the team.

I remember body surfing also. It was like a big mosh pit sometimes. Band would play "land of sky blue water" song and not much else.

We sat around on stumps and booed the refs when they took too long to get the ball out of the peach basket.

And the short shorts made the female fans randy.

Maybe we should bring those back as well.

I sat behind the bench so I was always watching the play get drawn up. Also everyone would watch to see what johnny was going to do. He would light the refs up a little bit during timeouts just to keep the crowd going.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Hilton did rock, but if you really wanted wild environment, you had to hit the hockey rink. Saw numerous player/fan fights. Fan/fan fights were at every match because it was the only place that served beer.

My oldest son wants to go to one but I'm holding him off until 13 or so in case it has not changed. Now there was a ****hole when I was in college, but a fun one.

+1!!! The hockey team just played two games here in Chicago and I was going to take my daughter to see them... and then remembered what the atmosphere was like at those games and decided to wait a few more years.

I don't know that they serve beer at the hockey games now. Back before they moved to the newer arena those games were crazy! The students were just brutal to the opposing team and the refs. Those were fun times. I'm not sure how today's hockey games compare.

As for Hilton, I think that you see glimpses of the Magic here and there. The loudest it got tonight...there were at least a couple of those every game. The crowd always did a good job of pulling the team up. But it almost always started with defense. That was the key. Get a stop and a score and then the crowd went wild the next time on defense. What's hurt Hilton Magic is that the team hasn't been good enough defensively these past 5-10 years to get stops. Nothing kills the crowd like giving up an easy bucket.

You know, I was wondering what your avatar picture was. Now I get it, your daughter. Kinda nice how you protect her by not showing her face.
