I like Allen's comments

I was really very critical of Allen at the beginning of the season, but lately I'm really liking what we're seeing out of him more and more. I think if there's one guy on our team that has that killer instinct its Allen. Every team needs at least one guy like that, so I'm glad he's on our side.

I agree that Chris tries a little to hard to get his --but I don't like that comparison. Curtis for his career averaged close to 6 assists a game and made over 45% of his shots and was GREAT at finishing with contact. He also averaged almost 6 rebounds a game. Chris is shooting 36%, 13 pts, 2.5 and 2.5 and hasn't gotten through the Big 12 yet.

Hopefully he continues to gain confidence and make a better %, since I don't think he's going to quit shooting. I hope Fred can give him a better chance to have his legs under him by giving McGee some more of his minutes during the game so he doesn't have to go 35 minutes a night in Big 12 play.

Chris Allen = Curtis Stinson. A guy who could be the spoon to stir the Cyclone drink, but instead much of the time chooses to get his.

I saw some bad CA shots at the end as Scotty stood around. We have no game finisher as Royce was double teamed. We had people open but we failed to try to find them enough. Here is an attaboy for Booker. He has done well lately.

Booker has been fun to watch. For sure.

My op wasn't about CA's ability, but rather his mentality regarding officiating. The officials turned on ISU and it affected ISU. One of the areas of improvement to be more competitive in games like that is to play through the officiating and work that much harder; to beat the opponent and the officials. IF ISU wouldn't have bowed to the officials, they might have come out victorious.

Allen needs to play smarter. He obviously has a ton of talent but taking a contested shot with 14 seconds left in the half and no shot clock will sour a lot of fans. I dont think he is comfortable in his position but something needs to change to get us to the next level. The guys are playing much better since the MVState debacle. I hope Fred can take keep them focused on themselves and not worrying about getting calls that we wont get until we earn them.

I'd rather hear, "I need to make a more concerted effort to stay in control and not take so many ill-advised shots. I realize I am chucking up shots with guys in my face without ever ATTEMPTING to set up the offense. I also routinely dribble toward the corner and am easily trapped, or make stupid moves to the baseline then have to heave up a prayer pass or shot. I am hurting my team, costing us possessions, and giving us little chance to win (close) games. Going forward I vow to be a better teammate while trying to give this team what it needs out of the point position."

All this register quote tells me is that he's deflecting blame from the real source, which is the team and himself. It's about time the team takes ownership of the routine stupidity exhibited on a nightly basis. If this team simply abstains from asinine shots, shows effort (continuous) in rebounding, and shows the effort and awareness to rotate defensively we'll be fine.

Oh, and improve in FTs (somehow, some way). I don't think I've ever seen a group collectively as bad at FTs as this. It's utterly pitiful and inexcusable.

Yeah Stinson to Allen is not a good comparison at all. Stinson was a shoot first pg but was still a great creator. Allen is a spot up shooter trying to play pg. He's trying to do too much, but he's being stuck playing out of position and with no one else who can really create shots for other people.

Key word choice: Not "the," but "a."

The more often he's "a big reason," most of us will forgive his worst tendencies.

If we keep seeing improvement in rebounding, defense, reduced turnovers, better half-court offense and ability to finish the job when opposition is down big — we won't even remember a few wasted possessions.

Could be wrong, but I tend to think that some of Allen's bad shot selection is from trying to be a leader and make something happen when they need a bucket. That kind of thing always looks worse when it doesn't work. Either way, he was a big part of the reason we were in the game.

Using Ken Pomeroy's offensive formula, Chris Allen has been more efficient offensively than Diante Garrett was last year. With a little bit better shot selection he can be very valuable to us.

Also, I'm a little worried what's going to happen once people get back to the Big 12 offices tomorrow. I don't know what happens to players that criticize the officials.

Basketball (commonly nicknamed "B-ball" or "hoops") is a team sport in which two teams of five players try to score points by throwing or "shooting" a ball through the top of a basketball hoop while following a set of rules.
