Re: ISU Daily's OP of the behavior at the Mizzou game
Read the daily every once in a while, her opinion pieces are always pretty bad. She definitely fits the feminist bill too, I remember one of her pieces where she was upset over our choice for new ISU president because a woman wasn't considered for the job. IMO it should be whoever is best qualified.

Re: ISU Daily's OP of the behavior at the Mizzou game
I worked the opinion desk at the Daily for a year and it was total feast or famine. If there isn't enough solid content to run, you have to run whatever the columnists give you. Sometimes the columnists really hit something good, many times they don't. These are young writers who are forming opinions and often write these columns in a single sitting. We had some great columns run during my time at the Daily, and I'll be the first to admit we ran some pretty crappy ones because we had to.
The opinion page's primary goal is to generate conversation, even if it is at the expense of the columnist's point of view (most often the conversations generated don't agree with the columnist.)
If you don't like what she said, write a letter to the editor. If it is respectful, somewhat reasoned/opinionated and written in english at or above a 6th grade level it will get published. If you write in a few good letters you may get asked to be a columnist and then they'll start paying you for weekly content.

Smaller ball, shorter shooter, shorter distance, different muscular structure, center of balance etc. I don't know much about basketball but you can tell there are differences. If this girl really played basketball, I'd expect she'd know there's striking contrasts between the men's/women's game. Not saying either is better/worse but there's no doubt it's different. Just look at the scores.
The entire column is pointless.

Agreed, my park and rec basketball team used to scrimmage the girls varsity team until we injured one too many players. Easily distinguishable between the two.

The Daily is the true "rag" of newspapers, this may be due to the one ply garbage ISU uses in the bathrooms though.
