More Hard Truth: Jan. 22 edition
When this team is hitting on all cylinders?
They're pretty good.

It would be easy to count this season a success so far. However, there is still a long way to go.
By rights, this team should win a few more games and, as you noted, could win many more games. However, we have seen previous teams fall later in the season and not realize their potential.
Personally, I really hope the team stays focused and takes every game serious. IMO, there aren't any definate wins left; the OSU game proved that. IF they stay focused, I think this conference season will be fun to watch unfold.

They sure are fun to watch!

I'd be more worried if I saw regression on the court, but I don't. It looks like they've learned some lessons and are applying them in the games.
Right now we're 4-2 in conference, with road games at A&M and KU over with for the year. We've still got to go to Mizzou, KSU, UT & Baylor...and we've got to get ready for KU, KSU & Baylor at home.
Do I think our record will "scale up" to a proportional 12-6? God, I hope so; but even if it doesn't, I think we've still got 10-8 as a possibility. Finishing 9-9 in the Big 12 would mean that we finished out at 5-7, which would be disappointing from what we're seeing right now; however, it would be a great improvement over "you know who's" record in conference.
I'm cheap as hell, so it means something when I'm looking forward to having to buy a SECOND ticket in Kansas City in March. It's been a long time since I've had to do that.

I also agree that we've progressed since entering B12 play, which is a very encouraging sign. I'm starting to see more cohesion on both ends of the court. These guys are buying into Fred's system.
With that said, this team could still go either way at this point. 6 games does not make a full conference season.
We have the talent to beat anyone on any given day, but I also feel like we're fragile enough to lose to anyone on any given day also.

What's so frustrating is that the team we have now would beat Drake by 20 and would also beat UNI. It sure would be nice to be 16-3 right now, wouldn't it?
As for the rest of the year, we're still going to have to pull off a couple upsets to make the NCAA Tourney, but I think we can do it.

We also have road games at Texas, Okie State and Oklahoma. We can't count these as wins. We have the potential to win 7 games just as we have the potential to win one more.
We have played most of the top and bottom teams. Winning games against the middle is what will make or break us.

IF they stay focused, I think this conference season will be fun to watch unfold. I would say Texas A&M and Texas Tech (both at home) are about as close to definate wins as you are going to get. We smoked both at their place, we should be able to beat them in our own house. We would have to really fall on hard times to not pull those 2. Other than those 2, I would agree with you, all other games are loseable if they don't play well...
Yep, this thread has just been pwned. -

What is the Big 12 tournament format this year on the first day? How many teams don't play?

Losses from November are for pikers. Some posters work really hard to include their gripes about Wayne Morgan and Greg McDermott in threads about THIS YEAR'S team.

They beat an 0-10 conference team.
