Big 12 Attendance
John and Eric said tonight's crowd at Texas was smallest they've seen in Austin for an ISU game, and by a long shot. We've seen the attendance at TAMU and Tech, and it was a joke. There were tons of empty seats for Baylor at OU tonight, too. What is going on with Big 12 attendance? Glad we had record season ticket sales, and I can't wait to be at a packed Hilton Saturday.

Re: Big 12 Attendance
People care more about football IMO. College basketball has become an after-thought for many casual fans until March rolls around. Plus Texas is having a down year and Tech always has poor crowds.

State of the Union was on tonight and all the southern hillbillies wanted to yell at Obama on TV....cave

Re: Big 12 Attendance
They don't care about basketball in Texas, and Oklahoma attendance has been weak since Griffin left.

Re: Big 12 Attendance
People in Texas don't give a **** about basketball.

Re: Big 12 Attendance
The South schools do seem even worse than usual this year attendance-wise. I watched part of the Oklahoma State/Kansas State game last week, and they had several camera shots of the upper level at GIA. Completely empty. Sad to see such a historically good home-court like OSU has slip to that level.

Re: Big 12 Attendance
Mack Brown still doesn't know Texas has a basketball team.

These figures really make you appreciate Iowa State and the resiliency of Cyclone fans. We haven't made the Tourney in 7 years. Texas hasn't missed the Tourney under Rick Barnes. Austin has a population of 790,000+ compared to 58,000+ for Ames. The Texas fan base is 10x as large. We still outdraw them. Cyclone fans are the greatest!
Our actual attendance for Women's games is better than actual attendance for Men's games at the Texas and Oklahoma schools.
Better days ahead. Go Cyclones!

Amazing to think Texas spends $94.5 million more on athletics than we do and we can still compete (and have a strong chance to claim we are the better team).

Re: Big 12 Attendance
UT is young and struggling this year. A & M has greatly underacheived. Tech is in the first year of a new coach, and might be the worst team in a top 6 conference.
OU never really supported basketball. Okie State is struggling with keeping players, and playing a really ugly brand of basketball. They are the best of the fans in the South, and they see the reality of this team.
The one that doesn't really make sense is Baylor struggling with attendance. I don't know what they are averaging this year, but that is a very good team, and exciting to boot.

Since it was on The Shorthorn Network they all stayed home and watched it on TV. -
Re: Big 12 Attendance
I wonder how much the Thunder have hurt OU and OSU's respective attendances.
It can't help.
