Re: How Allen's Play Links to Wins

Chris Allen is the worst player Iowa State has had in awhile. I know he has talent, but he doesn't use it. He forces shots left and right and doesn't have bball IQ

He also is our most efficient scoring and rebounding guard on the team. This thread shows all those things.

Ummmm... what? You must think our coach is pretty stupid to believe something like that. Fred has his reasons for starting and playing Scotty the amount of minutes he does, I'm 100% certain that is not one of them.

Agree completely, his minutes have nothing to do though with Hoiberg "liking him because they are alike".

I have to disagree, albeit respectively. Wes Eikmeier, Clayton Vette, Dominique Buckley, Brian Peterson, Sean Haluska, Corey McIntosh, Lucca Staiger, etc etc are all worse players. CA had a bad game, he has been playing better as of late. He starts dropping those shots we dont have this discussion.

Re: How Allen's Play Links to Wins

If you guys would like Tyrus to start, who do we have run the point? Remember when Scotty played point guard at the beginning of the year...

They did that because Allen was better suited off the ball, coming off screens etc. His shot selection at times sucks, but I don't think he is a selfish player. I think he is a scorer who is playing point guard and gets ahead of himself every so often. It's a new position to him and he is the best we have that can play the position.

Tyrus has been great off the bench providing a spark on both ends. Why mess with a good thing?

Allens a good shooter when he has his feet set. Its when he forces shots is when it hurts us. Seems like hes trying to hard to impress scouts. However seemed like he was doing a better job at making the extra pass in the texas tech gm

Little difference tho. Of those guys only petey lucca and mcintosh played over 20 mins and all 3 of them were on AWFUL teams, and they all knew there roles on the team while allen still doesn't. Also Petey was a better PG than allen ever will be and petey had a solid senior year

Clayton Vette and LA Pomlee would have something to say about that statement.

Allen is THE lightning rod right now.

I get so frustrated with him sometimes, but when I don't notice anything, he's probably playing well. He's that type of player.

He has that "force it too much" quirk, and that'll not go away. But I still have a feeling he's going to be clutch in a few huge spots this season.
