From the 5:14 mark of the 2nd half we scored on all of our remaining possessions. That is 8 possessions in a row. That is closing out with a vengeance. The only misses we had in that time period were Royce's 3 that McGee rebounded and the Scott's last free throw after the game was already won. Suffices to say, I think this team learned how to close out games.
Rebounding was great and getting Withey in foul trouble helped tremendously!
We won this game because we scored more points. It wasn't one thing over the other.
We won because the refs didn't take over the game like they did at the Phog
Defense at the end and re-bounding.
Royce making 7 of 8 FTs was the reason.
That was huge - he killed us last game. He blocked a lot of Royce's shots in the first game, but foul trouble had him back on his heals this gameQuote:

I started to post similar. Fred has learned how to handle the last five minutes. He does not let Royce handle it too much when fouls are coming, he lets SC and Tyrus take the free throws, he takes the air out of the ball when ahead, he clears one side for Royce to go one on one, he uses his timeouts wisely, he makes the guards rebound, he switches defenses, he plays to rest the team, and he is totally engaged in the game. This has been a huge improvement from the UNI game.

The missed dunk by TRob was a deflater for them.
They made a very good percentage of their free throws down the stretch, if they dont we loose another "what if" game.
for once we had good late game offense. I usually can't stand watching the last 5 minutes of offense but today it was amazing
The last five minutes of offense has been a problem since Morgan. I think this is the one thing that Fred may be putting together.
