Fred Hoiberg immediately went to the ref to call a time out. As soon as the ref called it, Fred's eyes locked onto Chris Allen and he marched straight over to him as the team went to the huddle. Fred chewed him out, pointing at his chest. He's no Frank Martin, but Fred was probably just as scary because of his usually calm demeanor. The lecture ended with a little shove as they got back into the huddle. Chris Allen sat on the bench when play resumed.
Wow, what has our society become that this is even still being discussed? Thank goodness there is no video of my Junior high football practices around, we were constantly getting slapped in the helmets, shoved in the chest if we did stuff wrong. And my parents were quite fine with it. This world is full of sue happy ******* that would have been much better off staying in the womb. He got repremanded, he deserved it.

CFH did nothing wrong IMO. Assault does not necessarily require physical contact according to my understanding.

Correct. Assault can be verbal. Battery would be a more acceptable term.

Sad that we have to discuss this. I remember as a freshman in baseball, I would get cussed out for missing the cut off as an outfielder....then I would get threatened.

Re: Anybody have a clip of the Hoiberg "shove"

I didn't play much but I remember one time I went in in real game time and I did something wrong and just got lit up immediately by my coach. My parents just thought that was great. I don't remember if there was anything physical or not, but I do know I would have taken a shove over what I got. The next time I got in though, I stayed in for awhile because of the added "incentive" for effort. Our coach was also one of those guys who didn't yell much so when he did, we took notice.
    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

Note to Hawk fans. An 'assault' is something that happens when 2 football players from the U of I have a female athlete from the U of I passed out in an abandoned dorm room.

Just thought I'd clear that up. I can understand the confusion based on all the things that aren't considered crimes in Iowa City when perpetrated by a Hawkeye football player. Those double standards really make it hard to keep track of what actually constitutes a legal offense.

What FH did was harmless, what you did here was stupid. Both fanbases need to get past these stupid rips and focus on their own teams, because Iowa fans could turn right back around and talk about Lattimer assualting a peace officer and never missing a game.
