If we didn't make them then OU would have probably won today since they killed us on the boards.
I'm sure other teams will try to defend us the same way and take their chances on our 3's falling. Exactly. They were packing it in and were not going to let Royce beat them. He found the open man and the others would look for their shot. It would be nice to impose our will on other teams but right now we just need to keep winning and we can get fancy later. Long time coming in this win. The guys are playing smart, for the most part, and it is the only way we can keep it going. I can only remember a handful of possessions I wondered what they heck they were thinking of. For those of us old enough to remember I think Fred already has as many B12/B8 road wins as Johnny had.

OU's strategy was obvious early: double Royce, make him distribute and make others hit shots. And they did.
I don't think the approach was as much to shut down his scoring, but to mess up the balance between his scoring threat and ability to dish the assists.
Some players might get frustrated and force it. Royce let it develop, and did what he needed to do. He doesn't seem to care if he's the star performer. A gifted player with skills that are non-traditional at his position, with a team-first mentality —
and a half-dozen players who take advantage of that?

Two questions ...
What are your Big XII 'kool-aid' expectations?
Could our players be any more well-spoken in the post-game interviews?

Re: ***Official ISU vs OU Post Game Thread***
Did not see us winning giving up so many second-chance points, but the offense was pretty dang good and defense good enough.
It may only work when the outside shot is following, but what the offense did today without a true pg was impressive team play and coaching. Royce and Scotty were like a roulette and croupier respectively.

Our lackadaisical rebounding efforts are really irritating to say the least. Lucky it didn't cost us the game.
Chris Allen had, for him, a pretty good game against KSU but he played way to much today. Tyrus McGee is twice the player he is, and when we are/were getting outrebounded it's even more important to have him in the game. IMO he is the best fundamental rebounder we have and a player I want in the game during crunch time. He is also light on the turnovers and plays a very smart game overall. I'd actually prefer him running the point with Christopherson at the 2.
He's also a pretty good defender, not that it takes much to be better than Allen, though.

Re: ***Official ISU vs OU Post Game Thread***
Anyone else think that it was bad coaching by Lon Kruger? I get double teaming Royce early in the game, but he couldn't let us continue to hit open 3's all night. Our shooters had time to catch the ball, make a sandwich, eat it and then shoot, without a man in their face. He needed to make an adjustment later in the game.

It's what you call a match up nightmare team. We have deadly three point shooters and once you take off the double team Royce tears you up. It's hard to stop.

You may have a point, I think I would have gone to hack a Royce towards the end if I were Krueger

Royce had 1 foul today. When was they the last time he was called for a charge?
I think the game has slowed down for him and he feels comfortable with his role on the court. He's not forcing anything
