I'd be willing to bet that the MSU athletic department made Iowa pay to replace the "damaged" chair. Iowa may have done little more than break even with this auction.

Speaking of basketball and chairs, my aunt was one of the cheerleaders that stopped the sliding Bobby Knight chair. True story.
Not sure how its promoting poor sportsmanship...but sure it's a little gimmicky, but someone paid $2100 to help out the baseball team. Gimmick successful.

You think they charged Iowa $2100 for the chair?

I actually figured you didn't see what they sold it for. My bad.
Re: Frans chair auctioned off
events surrounding hawkeye basketball are like watching episodes of "the office"
Re: Frans chair auctioned off
So wait...did they steal that chair? :twitcy:

Sorry, my response was more harsh than warranted.
Re: Frans chair auctioned off
They can auction off broken chairs, hopefully we will be auctioning off jerseys worn in a NCAA tournament game. Next subject.
Re: Frans chair auctioned off
I'm normally one to root for my team and not worry about anyone else but this is just ridiculous. His behavior was condemned even by his superiors and now they're trying to somehow spin it into a positive. You know what? We should frame those pictures Larry and sell them. That's what they would have done.
If you're a Cyclone coach and act like this you're a fool who should be sent straight to hell. If you're a Hawkeye, it's passion and it's commendable.

I was going to ask this too. That wasn't their chair. So either they paid for it or stealing is also passionate.

I kinda figured this was an article on theonion.com :jimlad:

So it should be the exact opposite?
Re: Frans chair auctioned off
Maybe a MSU fan bought it. I would have a hard time paying $2100 for a piece of memorabilia from a hated rival. Especially from a game where my team got totally schooled.
