Iowa State NBA Earnings since 1985

The Wall Street Journal did an article about teams and how much players from each school have made since 1985 in the NBA. ISU comes in 43rd, and from what I can tell 4th in the Big 12 (current or past) with $151,166,328. (KU-8, Texas-36, OSU-42)

Cool to see, especially with our 6 year program death.

Forgot the link, oops. That is directly to the list, there is a tab to go to the article at the top of it.

Gtech has Bosh who has apparently made over $130 million by himself.

Wow, I'm surprised ISU is that high, both overall and within the conference. It doesn't seem like we have had that many NBA caliber players. I did a quick check at basketball-reference.com and here is how it breaks down.

    Kelvin Cato - $47 million
    Jamaal Tinsley - $40 million
    Jeff Hornacek - $26 million
    Marcus Fizer - $13 million
    Fred Hoiberg - $10 million
    Victor Alexander - $6 million
    Jeff Grayer - $3 million
    Loren Meyer - $2 million
    Craig Brackins - $1 million
    Jackson Vroman - $1 million

The rest spread out between Blalock, Taylor, Willoughby, Stevens, and Shirley. I think that was everybody.

Stephon Marburry was the first one to come to my mind, he made over 150 mill on some hugggge deals that didnt work out so well. That includes the around 80 mill that NYK gave him for practically notta.

He wasn't listed. They didn't list a salary for Barry Stevens, but he only played for 6 minutes across 2 games so I'm sure it wasn't much. It also didn't have full information for Paul Shirley's salary. I'm sure he made more than 29K since he appeared in 18 games.

Here is the link to the information I used.

I would've thought Fizer would have made more off being a top 5 pick than that. I guess the money is all in the 2nd contract, which he didn't get.

Didn't Loren Meyer turn down another contract because just didn't feel like leaving Ruthven? The story I heard was that if he had played that year, he also would have qualified for NBA pension. I've always wondered if it was true.

I would bet Oak Hill Academy would be in the 500 million range at least.

I would think KG's HS is first on the list of just players with no college. Then maybe Kobe?

Barry Stevens made it to the NBA - a 10-day contract with Golden State.

Nice guy. He once came over to CR after his senior year with Hornacek. Barry accepted an invite for dinner at my parents. It was great getting to know him a little
