Sincere thanks to Pollard, Babb, and McGee
My son and I got the opportunity to sit in the athletic department reserved floor section for the Baylor game last night. Our benefactor had a pair of tickets he was unable to use so he gave them to us. I won't mention his name as I'm not sure if he wants the publicity but we thank him immensely.
Despite the loss, this game made for a very special and cherished memory for us. Never before had we gotten to be so up close and personal at a college basketball game. And, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to Jamie Pollard, Chris Babb, and Tyrus McGee for really making our night. You guys were so nice and so sincere in taking time to talk to us - and to autograph our basketball. You made such a positive impression for both of us and made me very proud to be an alumnus.
My recently-turned-16 son is very difficult to impress but you accomplished it. On our two-hour road trip back to Plano, he didn't even bother popping in his iPod ear buds. This frequently aloof teenager became like a talkative 8-year-old again. He was amazed at just how nice you guys were. He said that something like this - an athletic director and players taking time to talk to us - would probably never happen at a school like UT.
So thank you for representing Iowa State in such fine fashion. You've made us even stronger fans. We can't wait to watch the upcoming games to see the guys we now feel we know in action. I'd also like to thank Chris' parents who were so welcoming and nice to us as well.
You may have lost the game last night but you forever proved yourselves as winners to us.
Go Clones!

Always cool to hear a story like that. These people have the ability to really make someone's day, and while I'm sure they are pulled in a hundred different directions on any given day, it's great when they can do that kind of thing.

Good stuff and worth the bump...

I think the bigger question here is how he has so many credits.

DeLoss Dodds would be happy to talk to you... as long as you dangle a Grover Cleveland on a fish hook in front of his face as he walks by.

He is the credit overlord.

I've got to admit that I don't know myself. I've never taken the time to understand the credit system or what I can use them for.

BSIE '83 Those are great seats. I was fortunate to sit there 2 years ago with my 2 boys, and they are a great view from right behind the bench. I wish the outcome would have been better for you.

I've almost always found Jamie Pollard to be really sincere, You might not like the message sometimes, but I feel he always tries to tell the truth. He's a great ambassador for the state of Iowa who I think really reflects what it is to be an Iowan(despite the fact he's from Wisconsin!)
Great story!

Re: Sincere thanks to Pollard, Babb, and McGee
I'm sure if you wanted you could talk directly to Babb on his twitter and he would likely share your thanks with McGee.

Great story. I love to hear of those interactions. We had a similar experience in Waco back in the day. Clones had just housed Baylor in their shop. We were about to jump in the car when we noticed the buses and 18 wheeler backed up near the stadium. We waited for the players and had quite a treat. Mac took the time to talk to my boys. Sage was awesome. The Lil Clone Club t-shirts are still covered in autographs. Booking October 6 right now to hit the ISU vs TCU game. #proud
