Re: Coach Fred Hoiberg deserving Big 12 coach of the year
If Iowa state gets 3rd and Missouri gets 2nd, I will be surprised if hoiberg doesn't win it. But my opinion doesn't matter

For the B12 here is how I would rank the coaches performance (purely on coaching):
1) Hoiberg
2) Haith
3) Self
4) Martin
5) Kruger
6) Barnes
7) Ford
8) Gillespie
9) Drew
10) Kennedy I don't really agree with the order you've put them in but wow! What a collection of coaches we have in the Big 12! I guess I never really just looked at the group of coaches together whole.

Haith or Hoiberg are the only two that should even be in the discussion.

Re: Coach Fred Hoiberg deserving Big 12 coach of the year
I would personally vote for Haith due to the injury to Laurence Bowers. He was perceived to be their best post player (and possibly overall player) coming into the season. Adapting his system to the players he was given and going with a four guard lineup is a tough thing to do. Keep in mind, they only play 7 players. It's ridiculous the amount of success they have had.

Bill Self has done a pretty darn good job with one of the least talented KU teams in awhile as well. Self's got the leading National POTY candidate on his team; give me a break.
I say CFH just knocks off Haith in Columbia and we can put an end to this debate!!

when a 1st year coach wins the conference there really should be no discussion --
Haith will get it and rightfully so.

Re: Coach Fred Hoiberg deserving Big 12 coach of the year
As much as I hate to give it to a guy who's school is leaving the conference at the end of the year, Haith really does deserve it. While he had returning talent and the Tigers were expected to be good, they weren't expected to be this good (preseason and the first few weeks polls had them in the 21-25 range).

Re: Coach Fred Hoiberg deserving Big 12 coach of the year
Just like I don't want to see Mizzou win the B12 on their way out, I don't want to see their crooked coach win coach of the year. My vote is for Self or Hoiberg.

Re: Coach Fred Hoiberg deserving Big 12 coach of the year
Haith will get it. Hell anyone can be coach of the year inheriting that Missouri roster.

I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -
Re: Coach Fred Hoiberg deserving Big 12 coach of the year
i completely agree with this, but he in reality he wouldn't be named Big 12 COY. i think Haith has the award locked up.

Unless there is some anti-Missouri backlash Haith will probably get it. But where would Iowa State have been ranked preseason and after a few weeks? After the Drake game a lot of people around here would have ranked us lower than 100. Going into the start of the conference season a lot of ISU fans were picking us for only 2 or 3 conference wins. I'm sure a media re-vote at that point would have still picked us around 9th.

Hate to say, but Haith has deserved the award. Took a NCAA tournament caliber team and turned them into a legitimate number one seed. Puke.

Re: Coach Fred Hoiberg deserving Big 12 coach of the year
I think he has a shot at it, although I can see why some would give the nod to Haith.
To me the big thing is that FH was trying something sort of new....with all the transfers..and many were convinced it would not work. Haith had great talent, but had to go to essentially a four-guard system which probably should not have worked so well either.
Maybe we will have a co-winner this year.

Haith will get it and rightfully so. I may not agree with the logic but Haith will win. With as much talent/experience as Mizzou has there's a pretty good chance that Mike Anderson would have won COY if he was still around. The team Haith inherited is almost unheard of in college bball, Mizzou's roster is made up of 7...yea 7 seniors, 2 juniors and 1 soph (Flip Pressey), so they have a lot of guys who've been around and contributed for years. A first year coach couldn't ask for a better situation, Haith will really get tested next season, when Mizzou will be a comletely new team, I really with we played them next year.

Re: Coach Fred Hoiberg deserving Big 12 coach of the year
He should most def win the award as of now..
1. where we were picked to finish, and will end up finishing has to be the best in league.
2. havnt made any tournament in how long? and he will be taking this team to the NCAA tourney in only his 2nd year as head coach ever.
No question he is the most deserving.
