NCAA Nitty Gritty Tournament Game (#5)
Time for another of game for you to choose which team you think deserves the NCAA tournament spot. Vote for the team you think is most deserving, we'll give it a couple of days to sort out who CycloneFanatic thinks is the best choice. Please do not try and guess or give away either team's name. I will provide this when enough votes have been given and I decide to end this poll and start another. Team 1

Re: NCAA Nitty Gritty Tournament Game (#5)
Team 1
Better RPI, Better SOS, no "bad" losses to sub-100 teams, better record against 50-100, similar record against top 50.
While the teams are very similar, about the only advantage that team 2 has over team 1 is a slightly better road record.

Re: NCAA Nitty Gritty Tournament Game (#5)
Both teams have a losing conference record. I don't think you should be allowed in the NCAA tourney with that.
ISU's RPI is 51? I thought we were in the mid-30s. Dang.

Re: NCAA Nitty Gritty Tournament Game (#5)
Not impressed with either of these teams. For those who looked up the actual teams according to their RPI numbers, I must say that team 1 has exactly 1 win over a NCAA lock and 1 win over a NCAA bubble team.
Not that team 2 is that much better, but when team one ends up with a losing record in conference and either 13 or 14 losses total, I don't think they deserve to get in.
By the way, ISU's RPI is 41, not 51.

Re: NCAA Nitty Gritty Tournament Game (#5)
Iowa State's RPI was corrected, it is 41 currently.
At least 1 of these teams is in each of the current bracket projections that I looked at this morning, one of them even had both teams in the tournament.

Re: NCAA Nitty Gritty Tournament Game (#5)
Team 1, with little hesitation. Neither are locks.
If I have the identities correct, I probably would've expected Team 2 to be better.

How about neither? Both have losing conference records.

For as close as these two teams are in the bubble conversation this sure isn't too close on the voting...

Re: NCAA Nitty Gritty Tournament Game (#5)
Team 2 because they have more good wins

Re: NCAA Nitty Gritty Tournament Game (#5)
If either of those teams makes it I'm feeling very good about being a Cylone fan at the moment...

Re: NCAA Nitty Gritty Tournament Game (#5)
I went with Team 1, but these teams have only a razor's width of difference statistically. I'd be looking to exclude or include both if it was my call that Sunday. Team 1's neutral court performances and zero bad losses gave them the slight edge for me.
I've heard the committee has conference affiliation blinders, but if one was putting up those numbers in a significantly stronger conference, that might sway me, as well.

Team 1 lost last night, so they are now 6-9 in conference if that changes any minds.

We are voting as their records stood when I started the thread, obviously things will change as we near selection Sunday. Giving away details like this can give the team identity away and sway votes, especially due to conference affiliations, etc.
