We Aren't a Lock for the Tourney Yet

We need to keep taking care of business. I don't think we get in if we go on a four game skid to end the year. Need at least 1 of these next four games. Two would be great. Don't forget sCUm got snubbed last year, and they were hot to end the year.

    Keep it up Cyclones.

Baylor has never won in Ames.

    That trend will continue.

Yes, ISU is locked into the tournament.

Only thing that disagrees with that would be little guy syndrome.

I agree we need to win more. But, we are in with 20 wins and 10 conference wins.

Re: We Aren't a Lock for the Tourney Yet

Well, agree. If we were to lose 4 in a row I think we could be left out. I'm surprised people think we'd still make it in after dropping 4 straight at this point.

Luckily, we haven't lost more than 2 games in a row the entire season. Though it might be one of the toughest 4-game stretches we go through all season.

I'm not sure which, but we'll win at least one game between Kansas State, Missouri, and Baylor. We will.

I think we are locked in as a 9+ seed right now.. These last 3 games and the conf. tourny games will just improve our seeding.. I could see us as high as a 6 seed if all goes well these next weeks.

I'm on the side if we lose 4 straight we are 50-50. Win just one more and we are a lock.

    I support this message.

I agree, the team cant relax at all. I think if we win 1 more (regular season) we are an 8-9 seed, we win 2 more and 1 in the B12 tourney that could push us to a 6 seed. I think we are in losing the next 3 and winning a game in the B12 tourney or something to that affect, but there is so much to play for in the terms of seeding. also how many times have teams been able to handle Royce the 1st time they see him, a couple this year (Baylor comes to mind). That will be a huge advantage for us against anyone.

I agree ending the season with 4 straight losses would hurt our chances. We need to stay hungry.

I really think this team wins a minimum of 1-2 more games prior to selection Sunday. I know it will be a guantlet (@KSU, @Mizzou, Baylor and possibly Texas in the B12 tourney), but we'll get AT LEAST 1.

Re: We Aren't a Lock for the Tourney Yet

One evening around two weeks ago, I was watching one of the lesser ESPNs, and they were doing their run-down of possible tournament teams by conference. Their assessment of the Big 12 was (paraphrase), "it looks like this is going to be a 3-bid conference". That seems rather nuts to me, but not surprising.

Now, this was before the recent collapse of a couple of teams in the media darling Big Ten, which "opened up" more spots for others, but the sentiment in the media seems to be that the Big 12 is not a strong conference.

Knowing how the selection committe has worked over the past few years, and what has happened to the Big 12 in the past, I'm not sure why one would call ISU a "lock" at this point.

If ISU drops 4 straight, I could easily see the selection committee jumping KSU over ISU, and only taking 4 from the Big 12. It's happened before. That win for KSU@MU the other night was huge for them...
