Over the next ten days there will surely be many questions about Big 12 games and who we should be pulling for in the best interests of ISU in mind. So I put together a guide of sorts and go through every one of the last 15 games to sort it all out...

Is it just me, or isn't it true that if we win out (yes I know a tall order) we place ourselves as the second seed in the B12 tourney regardless of the outcome of the other teams with the exception of assuming a Mizzou loss at KU. Assuming they lose to KU, we have the tiebreaker advantage of them due to beating KU at home. We'd both be 13-5 under this scenario tied for second in the league.
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:

It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Missouri is 2 ahead of us in the loss column...if they lose at KU on Saturday we would need them to lose one more while we win out to tie for 2nd. At that point, both teams are 1-1 against KU so they'd have to go to the next team in the standings (either Baylor or K-State...if Baylor than Mizz would have the tiebreaker and if K-State then we would have the tiebreaker). That is all assuming I interpreted the tiebreakers correctly and that it would go to the record against the teams below us in the standings.

The premise was to ensure the best possible seed for ISU.

Ah, jumped past the "if we win out part", we'd be tied in the standings but we'd have to wait and see how thing play out to know how the tiebreaker would go.

I forgot MU actually came back to beat KU at home, but the second loss would obviously be to us to tie them in the standings, see my premise that we win out. Even so, then in the tie-breaker system the Baylor being next we'd tie them again (again assuming we win out), then we'd be placed 2nd with K State as the next seed having swept them (again assumption winning out). I can't see how we wouldn't be the second seed. Longshot, but it'd be great to get a OU or A&M for our first tourney game, rather than K State.
